u have 2 choises 1 is to file out the holes
but i recommend buying the harneses out off a bj11 which r the smaller bulbs
u just pull out the 3 plastic plugs left side undo the 3 10mm bolts an bolt new ones straght in as 4 the wiring u will see a plastic plug behind the lights just unclip it an clip in the new harness with the smaller bulbs
i think from mazda u can buy both harnesses 4 about 40 to 50 bucks

so with the new harnesses do they just clip on from the old ones ? or do u have to fully re do the wiring ?

coz if u have to redo the wiriing i think ill just pass... but if its just a straight unclip and clip on then that is ok ...

so for a set of these lights for $260 is that a good price ?

Ok ok...now ODD12C has mentioned $30-40, riceboy got them for $80, my local dealer has them for $72.56 each (total of $145.12). Now is it because i live in SA or is it because you guys can sweet talk your delaer into a cheaper set of wiring looms for the tailights ?

Can anyone source these for me from interstate for $80 and I will be happy to pay the poastage etc....

gotta love the BJ11/10 series!!!!

so you will only need the harness if you have the newer round lights!!

G'day all,

I have those black Altezza lights on my BJii. Just so you know, they are a very poor fit! I had to cut and trim the mounting lugs on the tail light bodies to make them meet flush with the car body! A bit of stuffing around I hadn't anticipated, so it took some time for me to work out why they wouldn't meet the car body...
I got got mine from RZ Performance in Melbourne, but off eBay. I have noticed there is a very slight different model on modyourcar.com.au I think? It just seemed to have a chrome ring around the light sections, just looked a bit more SP23 or RX8ish if you ask me. :)

Cheers,
Gav.

ahb11m .... you need the wiring loom for 2001-2002 SP20's with the original looking tail lights. Reason..... USA only got the Series II Astina (Protege 5) and they madde the aftermarket parts based on the series II. So if you are lucky enough to own a series II (2003-on) SP20 then you are ok.

Thanks Chicaboo....as soon as i get a hold of a wiring loom for my tail lights I'll certainly keep in mind the fitting. I am hoping it may be a different manufactured set as I got mine off Ebay in USA and there may be a slight chance it is a different cut ???

I'll post pics when they are up and might even take pics of the install so they can post on this web site if they like.

ps, the series II is 2001 on. in late 2002 the J48 version of the II came out (round tail lights). america got a hybrid II and II-J48 model (that's the best way to explain it)
