Does anybody know how much NRMA would charge for insurance of a '97 2.5L V6 Astina (if we get the new motor)?
Got a 2 L at the moment, and driver over 40, with good driving history.
If i can get a good price here, i get to drive this thing (once i get my license) if i can convince dad to get the 2.5 L...[/color:post_uid0]

Give NRMA a call, but since the car is modified, they *might* not want to insure you. You might need to ask around for insurance companies that cater for modified cars such as Just Cars etc. Or you can alternatively revert to 3rd Party Insurance.
I heard of one guy in Melbourne who's got a Civic with a Integra B18C transplant... got quoted around $3-4K for it... but then again, it depends on your driving history as well as your age.[/color:post_uid0]

If it's a standard astina, then finding insurance won't be hard, esp with your Dad's driving history.
But if later on decide on the 2.5L engine transplant, then they might not want to insure you and you might need to look at other insurance companies that insure modified cars.
Btw are you putting the car under your dads name and your the secondary driver?
Cheers;
Daniel :)[/color:post_uid0]
