Well seems as though my fat ass has broken my seat. Every gear change, the seat is lifting in the front right corner. Is this fixable. I had a squiz under the seat, and it looks like the nut is loose, but its a pain to get to with a normal spanner so Im guessin the whole seat needs to come out to tighten it.

How do you pull the seat out. I looked at it for about 30mins and have nfi.

Any help appreciated.[/color:post_uid0]

there's usually a bolt in each corner that attaches the seat to the floor. In my car, ( v6 94-98 astina ) the back ones are at the end of the sliding rail, flat against the floor. probably a plastic cover of them which should pull/unclip off. the front ones also have plastic covers and bolt into a small ridge in the floor. they face forwards. From memory, its a size 14 wrench to remove ?

hi guys does ur seats have the adjusters on the side that u can screw the front up an down as well as the back if so there is a rod going across the seat the holes it is in r probly worn causing the rocking in my case the rod came out of the hole when i accelerated the seat came up at the front an when i backed off it went down agian so i pulled it out put the rod back in an welded it so it cant come out any more hope that helps oh if ur holes r worn either run a bit of weld in them an file back smooth or bush them

Nah the actual bolt hole on the engine end of the rail had fractured in 2 places and had to be welded back up. Good as new now.

See how long it lasts.

If yours is rocking kitty, i would take the seat out and check the rail. Its easier to fix when the steel is still intact and the fracture has only started to occur.

You guys are lucky you can get your seat out. I tried pulling it out but the bolts are all worn. Can't even get a grip on them to unscrew thems :(

I tried this one already.. doesn't seem to work

I'd do anything to unbolt my seat. The rear left one in the railing is a bit of a bitch to get out as well

I found using a slightly smaller socket usually ends up striping the **** off the bolt even more... Best thing is a good pair of plyers that grip metal well and just turn it slowly.

Need to replace those bolts asap.

As good a time as any to replace those darned seats

   :D

I know, I know, am still broke but I can dream!!!

So have you had any luck Jynx?

I haven't been brave enough to pull my seats out yet.
I want to wait and hear how everyone else gets along, and would prefer to do it with others with experience around me......

*hint hint at July "Gathering"*

mine ended up going again after getting welded so i bought a new one - about $100.

No problems since.

The drivers seat in the Cosmo did the same thing. I pulled it out hoping it was the slide rail broken (I have spares) but was where the rail joins onto the front height adjust. Lucky for me the components are steel and substantial enough to cope with being welded.
Took the car out for some full throttle tratment (just to test the weld ), so far so good :D
