Hi guys.

After giving the car some stick through the twisties of the Megalong Valley, it occured to me that the tyres are on their way out.

What tyres do you recommend for 14 inch rims on a 1995 Astina hatch? I'm after something with a good balance between handling, longevity and ride comfort. Friends have suggested that I look at the Pirelli P6000's. Any other tyre suggestions and places in Sydney where I can grab them cheap?

Pirelli are a great tyre. Yokohamas are good too. Being only 14" your tyres these tyres are well priced.

Australias Best Tyres usually have a good prices.

I use Bridgestone Potenza G3's on my car, the are 195x65x14 , they are a great tire and hold well in the dry and in the wet..... i paied $125 per tire...

Thanks JynX and Oracle_SOD.

Any idea how the Potenza's stack up against the Pirelli P6000. Prices are very similar for both tyres.

I don't care about outright grip as most of my driving is done in the city so if one tyre has slightly less grip than the other but much longer longevity, I'll take it.

I had P6000s on my 14s before I went to 17s. Great handling, long life. Never tried Bridgestone.

I'd take a look through your local classifides for a set of 15X6 JJ, your insurance should be OK as that is the largest standard rim size. Take pot-luck with the tyres and hope they last until you've re-plenished your funds. :D

Some-one had to say this :P
