Does anyone have much knowhow for the BG sedans? My Pioneer 6x9's finally got back to me (were in transit with AusPost for 6 weeks hmmpph) and want to install them in the rear shelf. but, the rear shelf is metal. Has anyone ever seen speakers mounted on top of the shelf in the sedan? (FYI, the speakers now are screwed in from underneath the shelf)

i had 2 6" pioneers mounted in small boxes on the shelf in a vauxhall. that was a metal shelf but they were only 100 watts so the magnets weren`t that big. looked pretty good though and sounded ok.
if you made boxes for them you could design them to tilt the speakers in towards the cabin.

Bro.. we'll get some 16-18mm MDF and make a 2nd shelf underneath the existing one so that you retain that clean look on the rear shelf.. It won't be too difficult.

You can get single boxes for 6x9's (just like a sub box) but when mounted up on the shelf they look kind of dorky. There are a smaller/flatter version I've seen that are like a pod, but I can't imagine the bass would be real good because the capacity would be too small.

1. Grab a piece of carbon paper and trace the pattern onto the shelf.
2. Drill a hole at some point of the elipse.
3. Grab your nibbling tool and cut out the hole for the 6X9, smoth the edge with a file.
4. Mount the speaker and enjoy Mr bass :D

yeah I can believe that

my work deals with aus post a lot and you would be amazed how delayed things can get, like recieving mail sent my express post arriving 4 weeks or so after it was originally sent

be thankful you actually got them they loose stuff for us all the time

sorry for getting off topic

As for Aust post...gah! They've lost more things than I've had hot dinners. My Public Enemy CD and a tape to my sister in England are just two of the more recent things... Still, considering how much stuff must go through their hands, I'm surprised there isn't more going missing.

Ahh well . . . will put more thought into this later I guess. I would prefer a flat mount, hate the dicky hubs that you can get.

Just a tip for you, if the parcel shelf is metal, it may actually be illegal to cut holes into. I know this is the case with VL's etc, because the rear parcel shelf is considered a structual support member....

Hmm, good question. I think there are existing holes in the metal but the carpet in the shelf goes over the top of this. The speakers are screwed in from under the metal. I'll have a look at this later, maybe take one of the speakers off and check it out.

Thanks for bringing that up though, I wouldn't have known :)

might have to replace them with other speakers if the 6x9s arnt gonna fit
mabybe try 5x7 or somthing? they might be better fit
and if not
then some hell expensive splits would sound nice
damm metal shelves!

Yeah I think I might just mount them from underneath now. Will be easier.

I have bought some 16mm MDF baffles so the speakers don't hit the metal. No way am I getting those ugly, ugly boxes ..|..
