i know how to do it but it won`t look too cool coz the mazda passenger wiper isn`t in the middle of the scuttle panel. you have to remove the balljoint from the back of the wiper spindle and drill a new hole for it then weld it back on. it ain`t difficult but you have to do a lot of trial and error to get a decent sweep of the windsheild. you`d prob be better getting a spare wiper assembly from a breakers and trying it on that. or you could try and find parts off an old citreon or something. :)

apparently people use the mercedes benz wiper motor (probably not in mazdas, but in other cars) si t has a further throw.
but the easiest way i've seen it done is to unbolt the passenger wiper and turn it 90 degrees or thereabouts so it sweeps the drivers side of the windscreen

The HB 929/Cosmo hardtops also have a single wiper and would probably be cheaper than the MB one. The motor sits in the plenum and bolts to the firewall, you may want to drill the corect hole in the centre and have a panel shop cover old holes.
IMHO the single blade takes too long to travel across the screen and leaves a patch in the upper right that I'd rather cleaned.
one that note, is there actually any advantage to having a single wiper ?

nope! purely aesthetic reasons - at least for cars that originally had 2.
but then again a lot of the BTCC cars had on stuck vertically as it offered a tiny aerodynamic advantage apparently
but in aus you'd get defected for it
one that note, is there actually any advantage to having a single wiper

One BigMac is enough for you  You could have 20 blades if you took the sub out of the boot.

I was looking at the HB in the driveway (standard single arm) and the pivot point is about 35mm from center toward the drivers side.
