I have a KDC-2023 kenwood deck... it has 1 pre out and thats now been taken for the amp running the 10 JBL1000watt sub.. I have recently bought another 2 channel amp which i want to run my front speakers. How do i go about connecting the an extra amp with no other avaliable pre outs? do i need a set of extra +ve,-ve and ground wires??? i have no idea what to do

get a 4 channel instead and run all the interior speakers!!!

ok there are 3 things you can do....
1. get a 4 channel amp, and power your fronts, and subs together.
2. use y adapters, these will split the RCA signal
3. buy some line out converters, by doing this you will be able to convert the speaker level, to the amp level, and still retain your fader controls, as the KDC-2023 has RCA outs for rear... ie if you set your fader all the way forward, there will be no sub

if your on a budget, just do number 2,

personally i'd go option 1 there but keep the 2 channel for later, OR use both amps, use the 2 channel for ya sub, and the 4 channel for the front and rear speakers

hmm.

ur HU only has 1 pre-out, not 1 pair, so then u've only got a mono channel as designed for subs. There is no way you could use your existing pre-out to run amps for other speakers unless u want to have mono all-round, and not have stereo anymore.

Your only option then ( other than replacing the HU ) is to use line converters on your speaker wires, which will change them into a signal appropriate for an amp.
from the converter you can run ur rcas to the new amp, which will need its own power, remote and ground connections ( just split ur existing remote signal to go to both amps )

that unit has one pair, is all good, i've installed that model recently

with the amp thing, you need to keep stuff equal, so the wire put in somehting like 4 gauge, on the grounds use 8 gauge for each amp, or just bring the power to a distribution block... cheaper than running 2 sets of power leads!!!

if 1 off ur amps has pre-outs run the rca's 2 that amp then run another set off rca's from the pre-outs into the second amp then u will be running both amps cheers

What amps have you got?

Yes. you will need a separate power, ground and remote lead for the second amp. Best way to do it is use a single run of 4ga from the battery (+ve) into a distribution block, then separate runs of 8ga into each amp. You can have separate grounds for each amp using 8ga, just try and keep them as short as possible.

If your amp that's running the sub has RCA outputs, just use those to feed a signal to the RCA inputs of your second amp.

You won't need an external crossover, unless one of your amps doesn't have built in crossovers.

Blackrupt? Is that some bad take off from Blaupunkt?

Do those amps have any power ratings in watts RMS?
