Has anyone used a dye to colour part of thier seat of door trims? The interior of my 323 is, well, Granny, and I wouldn't mind doing the door trims in a different colour, but wouldn't want to retrim. Are there any dyes I could use to go over it and give it a new lease on life? I don't really care much about the seats as they have a thrown on cover.
i never have, but i think theres a similar question being asked on fordlaser.com at the moment. Maybe see whats being said there too.
I'd guess that you'd want to bleach it white or something first, to get the best color. There are spray-on Vinyl dyes available. They might work well but I dont know.

Yeah. This is just another project I have on the backburner at the moment. Want to bleach it then colour them blue, would look nice in my car. I hope

I think I'll try finding a trim from a different BG, with the different map pockets etc.

That dye makes the fabric all crusty hehe.

Bboy_Sparx, i was thinking about doing this with actual fabric dye, the stuff is color fast, only requirtement is that you can get the fabric off the seats, and be able to put it back on.... would look very good if it could be done, as it would be cloth dye!!!

Digging up an old thread, but I bought some of the dye today so I am going to give it a go on my door skins. Will post up some before and after shots (maybe over the weekend depending on the weather, will need time to dry).
U would not dye the trims i would think, and it would be to expensive to upgrade the trims to the higher model, So looking at all these show cars that have different coloured dashs i would suspect that painting them in a special paint would be the way to go and not down the dye path.
(Auto salon is on very soon, U could ask owners about it and get some contacts)

It shouldn't be too difficult to re-trim them your self. Then you get to choose the texture and material your self as well as the colour.

Oh, with this, we tested it on the back of the doors where there was some of the trim fabric, didn't look that great so I didn't go ahead on the doors.
CBF'd getting it retrimmed, might have a go DIY styles later but it's really not that important. Was a case of "if it works and looks better I'll do it, but it didn't so I stopped".
