Hi Leigh!
I am heading to Newcastle soon, to spend a couple of days getting bling!!!
Oh, and catching up with friends.
Not only do I want to catch up with you, but Shady - if you are around and Toyboy.
We have 3 digital camera's (gadget whore's!) that cost different amounts.
The ixus cost me nearly $900 new, and is my itty bitty silver one, takes great pics too!
The Canon G2 cost Aaron $2K a couple of years ago. I love this camera for all the features it has and the flexible screen. You'll see what I mean when I show it to you.
The Canon 300D is Aaron's latest baby. 2 weeks old, this Digital SLR is proving to be a lot of fun!
We are driving to Temora on the 29th of August to the aviation museum, and to see the old planes flying :D
Aviation Museum (http://www.aviationmuseum.com.au)
Aaron is looking forward to playing with the new camera there.
When are you on msn messenger? Everytime I look, you are offline!
Anyway, maybe see you around the 18th of August in Newcastle?
Get a day off work and come visiting.
or even better, I want to look here on the way through:

Hornsby Heights, NSW, 2077,

Catchya all soon!

If I reckon correctly Kitty, the 300D is the kickass EOS SLR digi that does 6.3 MP.
I saw these when I bought my canon IXUS 430.
I'm a point & shooter, so $800 for mine was better than $2k.
Also, I was after a small compact casing so the theory goes that I will take it more places.
Gotta say, it takes nice photo's though.

We have the IXUS, a G2 and the 300D now.
You are quite correct about the specs on the digital SLR.
It takes awesome pics and Aaron is quite the photographer these days!
He will be pleased to hear that his pics are appreciated!
Thanks Asterix!!
:D

*laughs* Kitty is such a flatterer ;) Just an insight into our camera situation - we're not exactly 'gadget whores' we have sorta acquired the collection between us over a few years :)
In many ways the 'choice' of digital camera is one of the toughest you can make. Kitty's IXUS that's now a few years old (2.0MP) still produces unreal pics, the lens in it is stunning and the pics excellent- espeically people come out with excellent skin tones. Canon seems to set up most of their P'n'S like that. Excellent packaging though - it is tough, metal and doesn't need a case etc and can float in a handbag or pocket without fear of damage.
When I bought the G2 it was the 'best' P'n'S available and sorta was the start of the real 'ProSumer' thing, but the $2K I paid for it in March 2002 seems like silly money now. It's a bulkier unit, but still fairly stealthy as it's no worse than a 35mm P'n'S. It's a nice unit becuase it lets you mave full manual control. It was a great way to get into more serious digital photography but damn you pay for it. Appraoching 10000 shots now on this one and I'm happy that Kitty has decided to sort of pick up where I took off with it.
The 300D is a total challenge, we're about 500 shots down and I'm only getting close to the point where I'm getting shots that are mostly exposed correctly. DSLR is big step in learning curve and also a huge change in style as with DSLR you loose the use of the screen on the back of the camera for actually framing shots, and also start having to learn all about ISO, Aperture and Shutter speeds.... But cool thing... taking an 8 second exposure in braod daylight can deliver a richness of colour that lesser devices can't match.
I'm not mentioning my first digital camera, a Kodak DC240 from the year 2000 becuase while a great unit it's almost outclassed by the $98 units available from Priceline these days!

heya kitty!
sozza for late reply but have been busy with uni and the lot! ;P
i'm usually on msn msg after 9ish pm. i'm kinda of a recovering msn msg addict, so i try not to tempt myself with using it. but in the daytime i'm either at uni or work.
are u running through the central coast or sydney after 5pm on the 18th of august? tell me your est. times + what time u'll be at hornsby heights. that's about a 15min drive from my place. otherwise, james would prob be able to take the nite off work (gotta chk with him) and then we could easily come up to newy for dinner:) but yeah, tell us more definate plans and we'll see:) i'm pretty easy about driving newhere. everyone knows that!!! heheh
on that note, did u hear the story about how james and i ended up driving nearly all the way to taree a couple of w/ends ago? oops! mr know-it-all decided to take the 'short cut' and we ended up in bulladelah instead of raymond terrace. but it was fun none the less 8) country rds at 100km/h are fun :D ....and the rest......
