G'day everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to replace the standard black plastic insert on the gauges with a different colour one, eg. white :) If it can be done how would I go about making a new set of gauges? What sort of printer is required, what sort of plastic can be used.

If anyone has some answers to these questions I'd appreciate it,

Cheers.

Rupewrecht may be able to hook you up with some custom ones, PM him for more info.

Otherwise, there are some here: http://www.dynamiitti.com/autodata/mpohjat.html

It's definately possible, rupewrecht showed me the final design for mine today and they looked hella sweet :D

na they`re different.
sehnkahn`s link is the one i`ve got and i`ve been trying for ages to change it to mph but had no luck
but you can d/load them and print them off at the correct size but i dunno how you could cut the numbers etc. out.
you`d probably need some high spec laser cutter or something otherwise they wouldn`t light up properly at night. :?

Are you sure the numbers need to be engraved? I thought they were just printed, and being black made them stand out at night?

mm that *can* work, but it's not a very good way to do it

geetee - if you can send me a scan of your speedo, i could make up a set of mph ones since all the other dials are the same as the the ones i've done for Sehnkhan

if your speedo was lit from the front then you could just print it. but because its backlit it would look naff at night and wouldn`t be very clear. you need to cut out the numbers and stick another transparent film behind the white one.

rupewrecht - that would be good, i`ll scan it next time i have a chance.
what`s the procedure for removing the needles? i remember on one of my old cars the needle rested against a stop on the dial. you could pull the stop out and note where the needle went back to then pull it off. mazda`s don`t have this stop thing, so how do you re-calibrate it? :?

ok:

cost: $150+ depending on design

install time: 30 minutes -> 2 hours. Overnight if there's painting of needles involved. And it depends how good you are at removing your your dash!
Question: do BGs have a cable or electronic speedo?

needle removal: you can take it to a speedo place. or slide under a fork under them and lift. or *sometimes* you can just grasp them firmly and pull!

recalibration: wind them round as far as they go and make a mark on the bezel. usually what i do!

Try this site: http://www.speedhut.com/elglo_link_list.asp

Select Mazda, then MX3 (same clocks as yours GT) & then click start designing.

For a set of clocks that are reverse EL (so back lit) lighting up read with custom 323f GT txt above milage & Mazda symbol on Rev Counter = $89 or £50!!!

Thats good isn't it!
