Hey guys I'm looking at buying a 97 astina in the next 2 or so months and its going to be heavily modified just curious as to what engine would be the best and the easiest to have put into the car I was thinking BPT but a mate was telling me that you can not put and older model engine in a newer model car is this true? Ideas are aprecciated thatnx guys

The engine has to comply with the emission standards at the time of when the car chassis was built.

Consult an engineer prior to doing the conversion if you are concerned. Theres not much difference in the emission control systems of the later model astinas and the earlier models. I dare say it is dooable.

you can put the BPT in, as the emissions for noth the BP and BPT were done at the same time, and the BP in the BA astinas is basically the same

my 96 is engineered with a BPT of 90-94 origin
