Hey guys... i was just driving home from work, and i was going through tempe coming from the city direction. i just got over that bridge, and there was an RBT unit there.. i get pulled in, this is my 1st breath test ever (i'n the whole 5 years of my driving experience) i stop and the guy goes to the front of my car... pokes his head down to the front of my car. comes back and askes if my lights are standard for my car (i had my fog lights on, my reason was cause i had a headlight out), i say yes.. he looks again and says u sure... i polightly say.. yup.. he tells me how he should defect me for having a light out and my foggies on. he then goes around the back looks at exhust, has a quick peek inside my car. he wanted to check under hood... but he said he needs to breathalise cars behind me... he let me go, while i drove off he's like... get the lights fixed!
personaly i don't think he's ever had a proper look at a Hardtop, i've met soo many people that have never really noticed hardtopa on the roads. had one guy say... u must pay a bit on insurance for an import like yours...
i've met heaps of nice cops... hate it when u come across the meanies... oh well.. getting to bulbs tomorrow. and i'll try not to drive with fogs on...
sorry guys... had to get my frustration out of me b4 i go to bed.

Gotta hate how they're willing to defect anything thats modded. And that u were using them coz headlights were down. I use them anyway, but thats not the point! At least u didnt get the canary....[/color:post_uid0]
Heh i remeber my last breath test, cop gave me the once over and asked for my licence. Gave it the biggest lookover ever, like as if it looked fake or somthin. Then proceeded to inspect every inch of my car, checked the rego details on his computer then returns to tell me I have an outstanding parking fine which should be paid immediately commenting that fog lights shouldnt be used on city roads.
Wot a tosser.[/color:post_uid0]

Why don't they like us using our fog lights???
Party poopers!
after that it scares me to want to do a single mod to my car![/color:post_uid0]
Personally, I use my fog lights whenever it rains just so that people can see my car, Daytime or not! Being Noble Green its pretty hard to see when the sky's a little bit grey and the headlights are really small as well so that's my excuse.
Found that I had a headlight out last night as well so the first thing I did was put the fogs on. They're pointed straight down at the road and they're not as bright as the headlights anyway so I don't see why cops have a problem with them as long as they're aimed right.
......and that's my 2cents!
Andy.
BTW: Damn you for having a sun roof! :p[/color:post_uid0]

Don't mean to bend anyones fender here, but just before i moved to Vic from NSW, there was an interesting thing in the paper one sunday about drivers using their fog/driving lights for no apparent reason [present company excluded, you guys had a headlight out!! :) ]. The Police of NSW stated that it was now illegal to drive around with fog lights in particular during perfect visability. I also think they said that driving lights [i:post_uid0]must[/i:post_uid0] be switched off when there are on coming cars.
Interesting me thought, cause i wanted to fit some after market driving lights to my car. Now I don't think I'll bother if I'm going to be targeted for possible defection.
Nasty
I might still fit pace car style strobe into the indicator lenses. :p

Watch the definition between "Fog" lights (55w) and "Driving" lights (100w). Driving lights must be turned off just like high-beam, fog lights don't.
You guys think you have problems with the police?
Try aviation then. CASA are the biggest bunch of ****wits around (read: typical government agency). At least with the police, if they screw up, you go to court, they cop an earfull and pay the court costs etc. In aviation, CASA are the police, judge, jury and executioner. If you don't like their verdict, tough titties unless you have a couple spare million lying around to fight them. And if that's the case, they wouldn't touch you cause you're "One of tha boyz". ANd because of the way the aviationlaws are written (most contradict some other rule), even if you do "The Right Thing", there will be another rule that says you did the "Wrong" thing.
Bunch of ****wits. Sorry about the rant, but you read what they do to pilots who did NOTHING wrong, and you just get pissed off.....[/color:post_uid0]

Mate you get good days and bad. On the other side of the
fence I got breath tested the weekend after my Bathurst
weekend and I still had that leak in my exhaust from the
lost bolt. So anyway I had driven to the bottle shop and the
servo for heat beads so on the passenger seat I got all this
grog and heat beads, I get tested and the car sounds like
it got no exhaust. He asks, I tell him and he let me go. I
reckon I probably should have got done but got away so it
does swing both ways.

Fog lamps have been illegal to have on during good sunny weather or a clear night, for as long as I have been driving? Its a $220 fine for having them on during good weather conditions... the reason they are called fog lamps is to drive in the fog and rain...
I have a Wheels magazine with an article in it about fog lamps? and that was in 1992...
Driving lights are no different than high beams... so you cant have them on where ever there is street lights...
I think you were let off pretty easy... I have a mate that got defected because his steering rack was loose... but actually never was... he took it in to the RTA... he came out with 5 more defects... things like cracked suspension bushes...
Here in the ACT you got a headlight out they screw you over good[/color:post_uid0]

Today, the police force (hah!) is nothing more than a revenue raising branch of the government. Oh, and they occasionally fight crime in their spare time.[/color:post_uid0]

yep. occaisonaly.
but the thing about not fighting any crime is that the law basicly stops them enforcing the law. did that make sense?
all these bloody laws about violence from cops to crims, even if they are stopping them from killing somebody. thats basicly it.
security guards are tops. when me and a mate got attempted mugged outside a shopping centre, we ran inside and the security got the little barstards and stuff. the shopping place put him on a sorta suspension thingo. poor barstard.[/color:post_uid0]
