[color=#000000:post_uid7]mornin pplz, im sorta not really new its just ive never got around to registering, ive been looking at this forum for like all most a year now since i got my 96' V6 hatch red, it was my parents old car and i bought it off them for $5K :D F*%kn bargin :D i havent done much to it atm just stereo, a xplod CDXCA900 cd tuner and a 12" kicker sub off a boss audio 4x250w amp. goin to be upgrading the sub in the near future. [color=#000000:post_uid0]funny u say "reliable"... my astina has never had a problem ever!..only the cd player was replaced 3 times.. but i was on my way home fro somewhere to pick some stuff up and i was tlakin to my g/f how the car has never had any problems and is very reliable!, so we stop at my house with the car running fine i grab soem stuff and go back to the car, i hope in, i start the car starts fine then dies about 5 secs after starting, i try it again does the same thing, so i ring racq(qlds version of nrma) he turns up in his van screws aroudn with the engine for a while and goes "your fuel pump has died" :( i gets the car towed to mazda they work on it and call me l8r the next day to tell me that a 'Mazda' brand fuel pump is goin to cost me a little over $900 and is goin to take 2 weeks to order in from japan cos they got nun in australia cos this problem NEVER happens...i get off the phone to him and 10 min l8r he rings me again to say hes found a brand that makes the same pump for $250 so its all fine now :) and im warning you NEVER LET YOUR FUEL PUMP DIE!!!! and thats my story the end...... :)[/color:post_uid0]

You can make other fuel pumps fit eg bosch ones which can
be higher output for half that price. A bosch motorsport pump
is less than $500 and would flow enough for a big thumping
V8 under the hood. $900 for a stocker is just a rip off.

Glad you didn't pay that price.

[color=#000000:post_uid0]Same problem happened to me, car started, went for 5, then died. Got it going, made it to the mechanics. Found a massive pile of sh!t in the fuel filter, so I got lucky, cause apparantly it's an absolute bitch to get to....[/color:post_uid0]
