Hey there,
Have a new phone and want to know the easiest
way to set up IR on a standard PC so I can transfer photo's
and new games and programs between the phone and PC.
I have some way cool photo's from Two Tribes dance party
I want to transfer but now I don't have a laptop it aint as
easy and I don't want to fork out for bluetooth yet.
Idea's welcome, have heard of USB-IR adapters for about
$60-70 anything cheaper going around ??

Your motherboard if it is newish should have a ir header on the board so you just have to get the adapter install the drivers for it and bobs your uncle .......
The usb is very cool can use it between all computers......just remember to install the drivers before connecting the ir adapter to the machine. and away you go[/color:post_uid0]
other idea is if u have a pda maybe u can connect it to that and then u could tranfer between pc and phone via the pda ?[/color:post_uid0]

Don't think so...

I had heard of the on board stuff but cant see where this
one has it. Something to think about for my next board.
Thanks for the input anyway. Often getting the adapters
is harder than anything anyway. I have been trying to
get the SPDIF surround kit for 6 channel sound on the existing
board and you cant get them. They only came included with
the 8INXP board which cost 3 times what mine did.

You can either get the usb IR adaptor or USB bluetooth adaptor. There is also an IR to serial device floating around as well.[/color:post_uid0]

Yeah thats what I have seen. The bluetooth is a bit dear
I may go the IR but I wanted to check if there was any other
option before spending $75 on a USB-IRDA adapter.

Not knowing the price difference I cant comment, but bluetooth is a better standard and you dont need the phone to physically point at the device (As in the IR case). Could be handy in situations with small space.
Your money :)[/color:post_uid0]
