boys and girls,
found out last friday night that i had virus attack on my laptop. got my arse out of the bed early on sat morning to get norton antivirus 2002.
it took around 3 hours to "recover" the system. after that, all the major OS components are still "infected" and "is unreciverable". so got the ****s, formatted the whole f&*ken hard drive, mind you, i have lost EVERYTHING, inc. my web pages and pics (both old and new ones). i know i can upload my new ones from digitalart productions, so im not overly worried about that.
anyway, reinstalled windows 98 second edition quite easily, and now i have problems.
the OS can not detect the display adaptor, modem and the removable disk drive.

anyone know what i can do? or can anyone help?
it is a IBM Think Pad i Series (PIII). dont ask me where i got it from, and i have no info about the hardwares inside the laptop.
not happy jan......  [/color:post_uid13]

Sheeat! Not good. I can offer you an absolute ton of advice on how to repair the installation but this is a bit more difficult without a specific model number.

Anyway, got any more info on what the badges or startup screens say that the model is? i series isn't enough to be able to help you unfortunately. Is it an S30 or something like that?

What did you use to "recover" the system? A recovery CD? A plain install CD?[/color:post_uid0]

Just rebuilt my gf's IBM Thinkpad. IBM site was great for the patches and drivers I needed.

Hopefully on the bottom you will find the model number. You'd think that it would be labled as the model number, but in my case it wasn't. Jump onto IBM site and have a poke around and match that stuff to the type numbers you are finding on the bottom. That's how I found it and all is good now.

Good luck Eric.[/color:post_uid0]

here you go eric...
the link to your answer. just click on one of the "i series" and it will direct you to the drivers you need. just have to download the specific drivers and save it on a floppy disk.
let me know if you have any problems.
