Ahh, little help?

Got some 6x9 for the Hardtop, but can't figure out how to get the grille off!!

Also, I can't find out which wire(s) are positive/negative. I've noticed that the RHS speaker is connected by orange and white wires, while the LHS is connect by green wires each with white or orange lines down the wire. Am I correct in assuming the orange is positive and white negative?

Any help greatly appreciated

[color=#000000:post_uid0]you have to pull the whole parcel shelf out!

there's a few white plastic plugs that you'll see poking through into the bootspace, push them up and you should then be able to pull the parcel shelf forward and remove it. you might also have to remove the trim around the hole behind the seats - not sure on that one.

either way it's a bit of a pain to do, and you will have to bend the shelf to get it out, but that doesn't matter, it's reasonably flexible

[color=#000000:post_uid0]nah u don't have to bend the shelf to get it out....
just got to remove the padding on each sides of the seats first.. then the shelf will pretty much slide out when u've detached all those plastic white plugs dan was talkin abt.

to remove the padding. just lift it up to detach it from 2 latches things and then pull forward... well that only moves it out of the way... it's actually bolted at the bottom which can be accessed when u've removed the bottom bit of the seat

oh u also have to remove the shelf break light too....

it's pretty easy to do once u get the hang of it.. it's much easier then removing the dash i can tell u that =)

re wiring: in the haynes book, it states that RL- is yellow, RL+ is orange, RR- green/orange, RR+ green/black...

and you're probably have to remove the child seatbelt bolt in the centre...if you have one!

1. Remove the high-mount brake right. (thats what it said, think they ment light) Refer to section T2
2. Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to page S2-113.
3. Remove in the order shown in the figure. (manual shows seven points all marked (A))
4. Install in the reverse order of removal. :p

Page S2-113
1. Remove the rear seat bolster. (Refer to page S2-135.)
2. Remove in the order shown in the figure. (a. seatbelt lower bolt. b. pillar trim)
3. Install in the reverse order of removal. :p

Page S2-135
1. (operate two clips on base of rear seat, lift and remove. remove nut from lower side bolster. lift and remove bolster)
2. Install in the reverse order of removal. :p

Page T2-19
1. (Draw brake light cover back. remove bolts connecting light to bracket. un-bolt bracket and remove)
2. Install in the reverse order of removal. :p


I only have volume two, I think there are more volumes than the encyclopedia britanica. :D[/color:post_uid0]

If I can't, then I'm going to print off this topic, and go step-by-step. From my experience, service manuals usually go further than required (printer manuals), so I'm hoping I can do what Dan suggested and just kind of bend it out (after removing brake right ) :p[/color:post_uid0]

ANyways, just fill you all in, new JBL GTO 6x9 are now in a working. Kickarse!!!! Sh!t all over the standards, can hardly wait to get the 7x5 fronts (as ewll as sound-deaden the doors).

Didn't need to take everything out, just need to take off high-mount brake light (hardest bit is getting the f@*king cover off) and the child restraint bolt.

Loosen the two side bolsters, pop the white lugs, and it slides out, easy-as. Trying to get the screwdriver under the window to undo/tighten the screws was the hardest challenge. Needed one of those stubby, 2 inch screw drivers.

Oh, and thankx for the wiring info, I'd have got it around the wrong way!! But there was one mistake, where you said RR, it was actually RL, but all colours matched up, and I haven't blown anything (yet :;): )
