Looking for another astina for Leanne. *We're after a gunmetal grey hatch, with low k's, manual, long rego (if possible) and preferably 97 or 98 model.
We been looking in the trading post and havent found any gunmetal grey ones for sale. *If any of you's come across any astina that fits this description let me know aight!
Am willing to travel to Sydney for it, however you Melbourne boys are a little too far for car hunting *:p
thanks,

I was looking to get a gun metal gray one myself, only problem is they were rare as anything. I looked at 2 here in Melb, both had high mileage and weren't in the best condition. Had I found the right one maybe things would be very different now.[/color:post_uid0]
Hey Boyd, how are ya mate?
can you do as a favour? can you please tell me the dash (the one with speedo and rev meter etc) in your liata is the same as the astinas?
thanks.[/color:post_uid0]

Eric, it's very similar, but not the same. I'll scan a pic of the layout and send it to you if you like.
There's a few noteable differences, the oil light, door and seatbelt lights are all different. Probably easiest I scan a pic . . . :D[/color:post_uid0]

mmm.....
another option, why dont you look for an astina you like, doent matter what the colour is, as long as the mechanical side of things are fine, and im sure you can get one in less than $15k.
spend a couple of G's to paint it in grey.
it will make the whole thing alot easier.
just another option.......[/color:post_uid0]

Had a look at a charcoal grey astina today.. its a 97 model, 1.8l,auto, 60,000 on the clock, full log book history and 16" chrome wheels (new) and it is $15900, but the guy says he can make it $15500.
the body was in fair condition with a few dings here and there. The motor sounded ok and there were no oil leaks.. went for a drive in it and i found that with the auto it doesnt go too good *:( *and leanne doesnt what auto.... she's gettin so frustrated... you guys think its worth convertin it to manual or to just wait till she finds another grey one?

There is a silvery-grey one at a dealership in sylvania (southerland shire in sydney) that i saw yesterday... im pretty sure it was a manual, lighter than the gunmetal grey, but cloe. i thikn it was $14000 and a 95 model.... cant remember exactly except the price
If you want i can do a bit more digging for you, get the ph number of the dealership etc, if you dont mind the lighter silvery-grey

hey mick,
converting to manual is a seriously expensive process. when nick had his auto V6 i think he said it was something like $2000-3000 for the conversion alone. would be much better to find one you are reasonably happy with mechanically then have it re-sprayed to leannes tastes i reckon :)

Chronos,
You talking about the hyundai dealer in Sylvania ?? or the
little guy near the servo. I could pop by Mik after work
and have a look if you want. I will also have a quick look
in Tynans for you too whilst I am cruising around. Fixed
my exhaust leak so it doesn't sound like a diesel now.
Was so embarrasing, especially when I got pulled over for
a RBT.
Anyway let me know

Hey, how come when I do a search for just Astina's not &
grey I find a heap of 94/95's for 12k but when you search
on Astina + Grey they are asking 15-17k ??
Should I be thinking of painting my car grey to get an
extra 3k for my car ??
Mal ???[/color:post_uid1]
it will probably cost you around 3k to get it painted in grey.

About the white one, Leanne decided to give it a miss....with all the stuff on it she'd be paying waaay to much on insurance. Ah well, just gonna have to keep looking.
Thanks for you help again guys...

And that gunmetal grey one Boyd found would be good....if it was manual. :( I've noticed all the grey ones, whether they're gunmetal or charcoal grey, they're all auto! whats goin on! My woman likes the stick :p After takin an auto for a test drive, its no go....not enough power...ah well.

Hey ABC,
We went to go see that one in Heckenberg, after the one and a half hour drive we get there and the guy says the car is off the market * *He then tells us, "oh, that mirage over there is for sale though" The funny thing was, Leanne's dad just goes "yeah, i'll give you 2 grand for it" and laughed. *Pretty slack they didnt call leanne to tell her though, she had called the day before to make sure they'd be there for when we got there...
Luckily we had another astina to look at... Charcoal grey, 64000 kms, 97 model in really good condition, inside and out. *He wants $16500 for it, we want it to be $15000 and he wont go lower than $15500. *Now we've left him to think about it and he's got Leanne's number for when he changes his mind *:p *Leanne's dad was saying "we can bring the cash tomorrow" haha I think this'll be the one if he comes around... if not, we'll just have to keep on lookin
Its all good
