what kinda things have you guys done with gauges?

dan and I looked into this over a year ago now.

you can buy EL sheet which is like a paper sheet but EL ( obviously ). You can cut it to whatever shape you want as long as somewhere you have a connection to the side of the page ( where the wires hook on to )

if you print the numbers and any other designs onto a clear transparency like those used on overhead projectors you can lay that on top of the EL sheet and hey presto you have EL dials.

the problem being an a4 EL sheet was fairly expensive and didnt have the colors we wanted.

I had EL guages in my last BA astina which I bought from a shop.

:D nice one dogo,
i`d like to make a set myself but didn`t know where to get the el stuff.
what kind of shop would i have to look in? art shop, stationery etc.....
i made a set of white dials for my last car but that was easy coz they were front lit.
the only thing i was really worried about was the needles.
it says on the site that you can fit them without removing the needles, how the hell is this possible??? :?
couldn`t you have used white EL stuff and changes the colour of the transparent sheet? how much roughly was an EL sheet?
cheers guys

umm umm *tries to remember site's name*

Dan ? u remember ?

it was an online electronics shop. It actually had a stronger prescense in Europe than Aus - which will be good for you.

mine fitted without needles. there is a circle hole in the middle the same size as the black knob. U just put hte meedle through the hole, slide it along and drop it over the knob - then screw it in using the original screws. It just sits on top of the old dials with the bulbs removed.

Let me know if a group buy becomes viable as I've got an account with Farnell's and should be able to get a decent price for a larger order.

um...white guages with white needles. I think you `d need red or orange needles to be able to see where it`s pointing at during the day.
