I was wondering if it is possible to run 4 speakers off a 2 channel amp. I have cheapy 6' sony speakers and kenwood 7x10s. If this is possible, how would it be done?

At the moment im runnin the speakers off my headunit, and it appears that the rear speakers (7x10s) are not producing little, if any bass. The front speakers are fine. I've tinkered with settings on the headunit and came up with nothing. :( Do you guys know what the problem is?

if your not getting any bass out of the 7x10s of the head unit that means that those speakers are sooo inefficient  in other words they need a lot more power to move the cones. it all depends on the amp and speakers rating and specs, but it is possible to run the speakers in two sets of series so that the 6"s are in a loop running from one amp output, and the 7x10s running from the other.

if as you said the 6"s are running fine from the head unit, then what i would suggest is that you run the 7x10s each from the two amp outputs. assuming the amp is not way to powerful for the 7x10s, that'll give you the power for your bass and the head unit will still run the fronts fine, making for a nice balance (after tuning).

[usual disclaimer here]

can you list the rms and ohms ratings of the amp and speakers, as that may help some of the techno geniouses come up with strategies

thanks lamby

Alrite, here's the info i could find:
6" - 40-50rms
7x10s - 80rms, 4 ohms
amp - 2x150rms, 2-8ohms (stable at 2-4)

if you wired the 7x10`s up yourself then check you got all the wires the correct way round.
if you wire + head unit to - at speaker on one side and vice versa on the other then the 2 speakers will be out of phase.
this means one cone going in while the other is going out.
the speakers will still work, so you think everything is alright. but basically they will be cancelling each others bass.

whats the power output of your head unit? it might be struggling slightly with those big kenny`s!!!
you could hook up an amp to the rears and adjust the gain control on the amp so the kenny`s don`t overpower the sony`s.
or you could hook the sony`s to the amp and bridge the kenny`s together to the amp and fit a crossover system so that they just provide some bass.
remember that if you hook up the front and back speakers to the same 2 channel amp then you will lose all fader control.
but the first thing to do is check that wiring!!!
