Coming home from Bowling after getting a 103 with my left hand, (I have told everyone, now I get to tell you.) Anyway drive for say 10 mins get home wind up the window and as I do I notice the revs drop slightly, Hmm.
So I do it again and yeap as soon as I push the window button the revs (on idle) drop slightly, press both Front door buttons and it drops considerably.
So if that pissy little motor that winds up my windows effects how my engine idles it would surely effect the engine when I drive, no?
So what about the bigger juice suckers are they doing the same thing?
Ie Head lights, Stereo umm, anything that plugs into ciggy lighter (mobby charger).
I know the Air Con draws a bit from the engine but I thought that was because it was direct driven (isn’t it?). The others should just be taking battery power so unless I am drawing significant power from the battery it should not effect the running of the engine.
Is this a problem or am I worrying about nothing?
I do need to replace my Leads could be part of the prob but dunno I just dunno.

Have a search for IAC (idle air control). That should correct the idle should it drop. The window motor does draw a good amount of current as the window is heavy and that adds strain on the altenator.
The A/C and rear demist have inputs to the ECU and the IAC is an output.
the power windows chew through electricity and therefore put a drain on the engine. I get it too.
i think i can comfortably say my stereo is a hefty drain on my battery, but still nothing compared to the windows.

A Cosmo window is about 7kg without the mechanicals and without losses in the slides. I guess that's why it has a 30Amp fuse

it actually says in the owners manual to not raise all the windows at once as you might blow the fuse!

Damn, I raise 2 windows at the same time regualry when I'm being lazy! And my fancy schmancy sunroof also works off the same fuse too!!

Power windows chew heavily into the cars total power system easily, but all car are affected differently, some idle indifferent or lights dim slightly: - especially when only idling, so it is nothing to worry about, but if it happened while doing 60kmph, then I'd get it checked out...

well, it doesnt strictly say you'll blow a fuse, it just says that you'll put a heap of strain on the window system
same thing tho!

being at idle makes a HUGE difference as well, as the alternator is hardly charging, if it all. Generally your alternator will not make much current at all until you raise the revs at least a few hundred above idle.

hmmm cant say ive ever noticed this..
And by saying it will blow a fuse is to scare the user into thinkin it can do big damage =P
lol i wish i could raise more than one window at once ... mine a sooooooo slow!!
