Wiring loom

Hi Guys,

Ive nearly bought a BPT engine and ECU, what I need to know is will the wiring loom from my 1996 BA fit a BPT gtx engine??? or do I ned the BPT loom aswell??

you need the bpt loom unless you run aftermarket mgmt

he means that with aftermarket management u often have to replace the whole loom with fresh wire. and engine sensors etc too sometimes.

even if the aftermarket ecu fit the BP loom, the plugs wouldnt all fit in for the engine and it'd be missing bits such as the boost solenoid.

try some of the import wreckers like adelaidejap or justjap for a loom, or you might find a ford tx3 bpt loom at a ford wrecker.

If you get the choice, the jap-spec standard ecu is better than the aus-spec one. part numbers: jap = BP26 , au= BP56 I think

btw, the only plug-in ecu fot he bpt loom is the Link ecu as far as I know.

Whats the score with the GTR engine?? Will this fit also??

Whats the difference between the GTX and GTR? different turbos and ECU's?

GTR and GTX engines are the same externally (not including bolt-ons), except the GTR has different internals (basically), as well as different turbo and ECU

"bolt ons" include the injectors , afm etc as well.

while you're doing the conversion its also a good idea to upgrade your fuel pump. I've upgraded mine just recently and the engine loved it.

intake manifold is slightly different also i believe.

the gtr has squeeze cast pistons and sodium filled exhaust valves.

considering they go for $4K-5K the money is better spent on a GTX and upgrade things like turbo, computer, pump, reg etc

better bang for your buck imho

Would love to have your motor but I live in the U.K. Might take me some time to get down to pick her up ;)

Im buying a calf cut as we speak, its a GTX from Japan, its got the full kit, ECU, looms, intercooler the full kit.
$2700 Aus

Its from the states tho.

Oh yes the intercooler is tiny!

My plan is to just get a standard BPT in there first then start upgrading parts, but yes the intercooler is a little baby!! bless.
