well with the specs you put up for this laptop, i'll get it off you for $500 + delivery charges.
now you are aware that laptops today go for P4 with standard 128 RAM with 20GIG HD and 64 MEG video card (G4s), combo drive, modem, sound card, 15inch TFT monitor, with software for around $2K.

my gf wants a laptop. let me know.[/color:post_uid0]

Thanks IZG-00D, but I had it on ebay not long ago and the bidding got as high as $1040, so I will see how I go. There is someone interested from a nearby Uni for my asking price too :) Thanks anyway.[/color:post_uid0]

dude, give me the link to ebay with your laptop.

Um, I said I "had" it on eBay a while ago, it's not a current auction.
I have also advertised around local Uni, where my current interest is being generated.[/color:post_uid0]

dude TAKE A CHILL PILL AND RELAX, if you had it for $1040 and some1 bid for it already at that price, then why are you selling it at a higher price here???

mate, ill give you alittle advice about computers (computers/laptop depreciate every 3-6 months), with that spec description you wont be able to sell it over $1K for a P700MMX, 64MRAM, 12i TFT and 8MEG video (laughing as standard video for laptops now are 64MRAM).

who ever buys that laptop (that's if you do sell it) doesnt know nothing about value for money...

Check out this link with a better spec than yours and with a smaller price tag (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=803771838)

G'day,
I work in the computer industry, and it's worse than cars for depreciation. My computer, new 2 years ago, cost me $2,500. Now, exactly 2 years later, you would be very lucky for $1,000 (that's AFTER adding a CDRW, DVD, second HDD). Laptops are worse than anything else. A new model, closely spec'd to yours is only just over $2,000 with much more than the 210 series has (it's a 220).

If you're laptop was hardly used, still had [b:post_uid0]ALL[/b:post_uid0] original disks and accessories, and worked perfectly, I would expect it to fetch anywhere from $900 - $1,200 MAX.

I don't mean to take sides (as there shouldn't be any, see Ezzy's post), I'm just offering my opinion as a person who works in the industry.

Take a chill pill? I was correcting you. My price is based on a comparison to other units I see for sale, and as I mentioned, I reularly see (not only on ebay) older models selling for roughly the price I am asking.

I used to work in the industry also, for about a year, and I can tell you that no matter how good or bad the product is, it's the salesman behind it who can get the price.

As for relisting, the price of $1040 was not enough, hence trying again.

As for the link, I noticed 5 or more days to go, it hasn't been there very long.

As for this place being friendly, it used to be.

As for the sale of this system, if you do not want it, please do not comment on it. There is no point in trying to harm the sale, as it stands, I need to sell it primarily because of financial difficulty. Comments like "who ever buys that laptop (that's if you do sell it) doesnt know nothing about value for money..." are really unfair, especially since you have not seen the item.

If I sell it for the price I am asking, then I'll be happy.

IZG-00D: Your price was too low. I didn't attack you or anything, just advised you of that detail. And then corrected you as it had been an eBay item not too long ago, but even then, it still isn't considered current.

As it stands, the laptop is hardly used, perfect condition etc - so if it can fetch $900-$1200 (from someone who "knows" the industry), then its not far off the mark I am asking then is it?

And on a final note: let's all stop this **** fighting then! For goodness sake, we can all get along![/color:post_uid0]

Peter, since when the hell has 64mb video been standard on a laptop. 16mb was standard about 3 months ago for anything under $4000, and now 32mb is creeping in.
A " P4 with standard 128 RAM with 20GIG HD and 64 MEG video card (G4s), combo drive, modem, sound card, 15inch TFT monitor, with software for around $2K" is impossible. Find one and ill take that back. Toshiba and Dell are generally the cheapest mainstream, and a Satellite 1400 Celeron 1.6ghz, 128mb RAM, 20gb, CD only, 16mb video is about $2500. Even a dodgy unbranded computer with the specs u gave is about $3000. I was looking recently, and a laptop with those specs should be fetching about a $1000, considering a PII 350 with 16mb RAM, 2GB, and CD fetched $450![/color:post_uid0]

ARCCO (http://www.arcco.com.au/)

ive been into computers since back in high school so i know alittle bit about computers and research on prices.

goto laptops... the specs may not be close to the description i made but close enough. like stated before "around $2k" as i cannot actually get a precise price and i didn't specified a brand... dell or compaq ARE the best but way too over rated on prices as you are paying for the brand name not the specs.

with the "chill pill" comment, i referring to the angry face you posted up.

actually, standard video car is actually 32meg not 16 (i admit im wrong in that issue)...

and i prefer IMACs for portable PCs
let me know if the site i have provided proves me wrong otherwise.

i apologize :D[/color:post_uid0]
