Hey guys, ive encounted a little problem with my dash illumination and tail lights :(
Started a few weeks ago the dash/tail lights dropped out so i checked the fuse but there was nothing wrong with it,i changed the fuse anyway and it was working again :?
All was fine for a few weeks and last night i heard a click and the lights dropped out again, this is were it gets strange,i pulled the fuse out again and like b4 it didnt look blown,so i stole a fuse from the horn and placed it in the tail light holder and put the fuse that i took out of the tail light in the horn holder, both the horn and illumination was working again
WTF is going on :o
Is there any kind of relay that controls the dash/tail light illumination cause it cant be the fuse :?:

Cheers :)

Yeah got the autometer tacho, come to think bout it i installed the tacho myself but i had an auto leco tap the illumination wire into the back of the fuse box properly, maybe that has come lose or something :?

that would be my guess yes.

i know my illumination on the gauges goes off every now and then and that's the cause. i just havent got around to hooking it up properly yet.

sometimes my drivers side taillight stops working so i give it a thump and it is good as new :)

i *think* in the BA the illumination is a ground-triggered system. u should be able to wire constant b+ to the guage lights as long as u ground it to the illumination ground.

If you ground it elsewhere u'll possibly find that the dimmer doesnt work

If you had a BG Theo, I'd say straight off that its the actuall switch. Cause you have the BA, I can't say for sure.

I pulled my combination switch apart on the weekend for the same problem...what happens is the switch contacts for the parkers become tarnished and just need to be rubbed back with a bit of sandpaper.

For those who have a BG, I took some pics of the process...Will be posting it up in the KnoledgeBase on Fordlaser.com soon. But if you want them, just let me know and I'll email them across.
