I'd love to have the money to do this, but it aint gunna happen, so...

Get a new SP20 protege. Install a plasma screen or LCD in the boot lid, along with some mid-high range speakers, 15" subs, SQ system, DVD player, PS2 etc. Loads of Neons and the like (and a strobe or two), and a bar fridge taking the place of the back seats.

Use the screen for movies (have a drive-in wherever you go), or to do the club thing with fancy graphics dancin round in time to the music, or *SHUDDER* karaoke...

And all of this would be in a nice moulded enclosure, so you just pop the boot, hit the magic button and burst your ear drums, oh yeahhhhhh.

Oh, yeah, can't forget a TV tuner. Can't miss the Simpsons...

What's your dream system?[/color:post_uid0]

i want some mad splits in the front and some awesome midrange speakers in the back for fill and then 3 square kickers in the boot with a little screen for the graphic equalizer stuff, in the front i want a dvd player, stacker and an LCD screen, and a PS2... i would be happy with that...

I like you status Sandyman. When they said dream system
you really were dreaming when you came up with it :D

I would like a lcd screen mounted on the roof maybe a
converted laptop or some of that flexible LCD thats up and
coming. Matched with a 12disk DVD stacker, a MP3 drive
and a playstation2 mounted under the seat. Head unit
to have mobile internet so that I can download to the
MP3 drive using DAB. For now whilst the above technology
is not commercially available at a price I can afford I
would like to upgrade my speakers and amp to provide
more clarity and definition. Maybe make a new sub box
fibreglassed into the boot to give me more space for
Joshies junk which is smashing the current subs around.

speaking as a guy who has tv/ps2/dvd etc in his car, *I'd just like to add that it really isnt worth the $$. *In my experience, its a cool novelty at first, a fun 'oooh ahhh' from your mates, but the novelty soon goes away and the tv just doesnt get used. Driving with it on is an VERY bad idea :;): , the tv reception is never great and sometimes barely visible, and even with my 7" screen its still too small to really get much out of for ps2. *I found that in theory, these things sound cool, watching movies, playing games etc, *but in reality it doesnt happen. *u dont actually sit in your car and watch movies all evening. *People get headaches or car sick from watching the screen pretty quick. *I dont think i'd bother getting a screen again if I was upgrading.

uh... sorry that was kinda serious and away from the 'dream system' topic

my mp3 hard drive is cool tho .... i'd rather have that than a screen next time around :)

But anyway, as for my dream system , I'm fairly happy with mine at the moment. Speakers sound great, the audison amp is awesome, but the sub and its amp could do with an upgrade. *( with LOTS of more deadening :;): )

After I've paid for an upcoming holiday overseas, and the upcoming home loan is running smoothly, *I wanna put 2 x 12" L7 Solobarics replacing the side walls of the boot. Running of Audison mono block amps. *Most likely installed in the boot floor under clear perspex or something.

Hey Dave,
I hear what you are saying. For me the PS2 and
TV screen are for Josh when we start going on driving holidays
which are the hols I love. Thats why I would like one on the
roof so I could have a decent sized screen which lead to the
thought of the laptop screen mounted on a custom bracket/cradle.
The PS2 would be removed 99% of the time and only put in
for trips or showing off(you know we all do it). Only other
thing I would prob use the screen for would be with a
navigation system which again would work with the mobile
internet if not local on the hard drive.

Thanks for the warning thou

The Fast and Furious laptop idea is interesting but you would
only want it on "display only" say with digital guages but not
to change things as you don't really want to be playing with
stuff on the move. *Think how many people break cd's in their
head units by trying to insert cd's on the move. *Don't want
to accidentally up the boost wildly and blow something up
because of a bump in the road. Use a dyno for tuning.[/color:post_uid1]

my dream is 2 forget the whole system and scare the **** out of pedestrians with the turbo!!!! ppiiiiiisssssssshhhhhhh.

i took another turbo rx7 s3 with a s5 13b for a test drive the other day and the whole experience was invigorating!!!

although once i get tired of that i think the idea of a lil tv screen to control a couple of subs and their friends would be very cool.

and one thing i want now is a remote, so i can change **** from the back seat.

and i like the idea of the laptop in the car giving readouts. dont no how usefull it'll be, but it'll be fun. my mate used to have a system rigged up in his laser where he had som kind of lil hard drive system under the drivers seat where he had all his mp3s and then he had a number pad and a little screen on the dash so he could change the songs. and he'd just pull the harddrive out and add more mp3s when he wanted. problem was he always had trouble finding the rite song. it was a pretty crude system that he just hooked up at home, but it worked. just.[/color:post_uid0]

get a steering wheel that has buttons (e.g nos buttons), and connect them to the music source in the skip track button thing. he could just have it on 'play random' and improvise or something.[/color:post_uid0]

That was a 2000 watt amp to 2 subs, so 1000 rms per sub.....tho the W7s will handle close to 2000 anyhow

As for 2000 watt subs, there are plenty.
Adire, Digital Designs, Shocker, Treo, Resonant Engineering, Hifonics, Orion, Crossfire, MTX, Total Recoil etc etc all have them in their 2003 ranges, not all as yet on their sites.

i have a control box with a display screen and the various buttons. *the drive is sorted into artist, then album, then songs. *So first you have a list of all the artists on the screen, then you scroll thru that. *go into the one you want, and u can see their albums. *then just push play on one or go in and choose songs. *

[img:post_uid0]http://users.bigpond.com/ksole/photos/lcd1.gif[/img:post_uid0]

I can also put in playlists created in winamp onto it and play them instead.

Theres an identical display and controls on the tray for the hard drive too.

The hard drive comes out and inserts into the PC where its just like a normal hard drive at normal HD speeds. I can stick in whatever i like, so 80-100gig is very possible If i'd needed to buy one that size.[/color:post_uid0]

ah you're right - i forgot the doorhandle one!

umm no idea on model number, but i'll check for you...

and you could fit it in the door, but i wouldn't like to with the door being slammed all the time. but thats just a personal thing. i guess if it was insulated from the shock well enought id wouldn't be a problem[/color:post_uid0]
