the whole thing can be colour coded to your existing exterior or painted black.
this will be an introductory offer for the forum member (inc. fit and re-run the lights)
$350 for black (& swap for your ones)or
$400 to colour code (& swap with your ones),

What sort or wiring-in would they require. I am guessing
if you are not electrically minded this is a pay to install
and remove. What are the chances of getting a fibreglass
backing to the lights made up instead of cutting up your
original lights so that if for any chance you got defected
you have your originals to put back in.

mal, the wiring is quite simple, the brake light will be relocated to the actual hatch, so a wire/cable will be tapped into the existing brake wire/cable and run to the back of the hatch. the clips will be fitted, so the actual light bulbs can be removed from this new location to the old location. with this round light, the reverse lights will be untouched.
as for making the fibreglass backing, i assume you are talking about the light covers. it can be done, and it will actually take longer to make (the first one), but the holes will be all over the place, because the indicator is on top of the brake light, and the reverse light will be in-line with the indicators, so you will end up with a tranangle arrangement.
but, if you are talking about making the whole talight out of fibreglass, it will cost alot more simply because there will be more labour and materials involved.[/color:post_uid0]

I just don't like the idea of Butchering a set of tail-lights to
do the conversion. *Apart from the fact that if I ever got
defected for them I would have to go and buy a new set,
which would not be cheap, but I also dont like butchering
stuff. *I still dont understand about why you cant make a
fibreglass light. *If you took a mould of the outside of a
standard tail-light including the side section that screws to
the car. *Add a section to the other side so that it will clip
to the car, wouldn't that be it. *Also wouldn't that open up
a whole new stack of options like Skyline type lights if you did
make it out of fibreglass.
Lastly do you have any other lights to select from. *The ones
in the picture look like muffins to me in the white paper cups.

very true mal, but lets look at the costs related....
- getting a mould made = 1 x arm and 1 x leg.
- get the replicas poped each time with the metal fixings = 1/2 arm
- butchering the replica with round lights etc = 1/4 arm

so by doing that, the cost of the whole thing is probably doubled. the market is not big enough for me to do that at the moment. the one im making now is not expensive at all, just to give you a comparison, the crx round light from cyber is worth $800 for the basic/plain style.[/color:post_uid0]

Sorry then Mate,
$350 plus a possibility of $250 or more for replacement
lights if anything went wrong is too much for me.

Hey Eric,

Have you thought of a kit that would replicate the mazda 6 tail lights? I think they are the best looking tail lights of any car.

Just my thoughts!

thats cool mate. your money = your decision

deon,
not really. i think the best way is to get a set of them from the dealer (i think its nearly impossible to find a set from the wreckers at the moment...), abd mould that into the factory one etc.... all custom work mate.
btw, how's your engine work coming along?[/color:post_uid0]
