well i had a thought. since the qld communities seams to be the most active on here recently, should we have our own moderator for this section to help out with stickies and general stuff?
i dont want to do it, so i vote gay-auto-gav
anyone else have any thoughts?

I like your idea Andy but I do have to question the necessity of it (not that I dont think Gay Auto Gav would do a good job of it)as I feel that we have enough interest in this section from our current moderators. Kitty seems to always be popping her paw in here regularly as our adopted Far South Queenslander. I feel that the current moderators do a great job of running the show and even though the QLD section is by far the busiest I do not think that it is out of their control. Tony has organised the new site to within the boundaries of the current moderators.
If each state continues to grow and they each have their own "state" moderator the site will start to become seperated from the closeness that it holds now. We are a family of motoring enthusiasts and we dont need to get a divorce from our other states.
I for one would hate to see the current moderators lose touch with each of the states as they seem to work well together extremely well and this has been built due their familiarity with each other and this is not something that will happen overnight.
We seem to be able to function well as a state but the site seems to function well also. i feel that having the current mods watching over us as some sort of parental spirit keeps us linked with the notion that we are not a group of states who have formed a common interest but rather a national community with state interests.
I do not wish to upset anyone by not pushing for a State moderator but would rather support the notion that we dont lose touch with our ancestry and I for one would hate to see the current moderators lose touch with a community which they helped flourish (and a big thank you to them all for that).
This is just one mans opinion and I am sure that we would love to hear what are the thoughts of the other regulars from the Greatest State of all;)

The Kitty with her very own litter?
*boggles*
Appreciate being an adopted Far South Queenslander though!!!
*group hugs*
*figures there is enough Kitty to go around everywhere*
What you said about the national identity is what has been on my mind all along aka with Nate's QLD Homepage too.
We all appreciate any and all help in looking after what has to be one of the most active and interesting forums I have ever had the pleasure of being a member of.
Yes we have moderators, but in the long run it is every members responsibility because the forum belongs to all the members.
If we all take ownership of it, then I won't have to use my super moderator powers for evil, I mean good, and I can relax and participate as a member.
Everyone makes mistakes, it's true that I have been known to make one.......... maybe two, but I will have to confirm that!
Personally, I will always pm someone if I have questions, or doubts.
I know the other moderators are the same. We are willing to give people the benefit of the doubt.
I like to think I am approachable by anyone, and everyone is always welcome to talk to me, pm me, send email or flying messenger pidgeon.
All of the moderators on AGT are more than happy to help, so if anyone has any problems, queries or concerns - get in touch!
We are all part of the big AGT family here, and the only dumb question is the one you don't ask LOL!
Thanks to Boosted Batman for a well written post.
If this forum continues to grow, then more moderators may be required, but until then, lets try to keep focused and keep our eyes on the road :)

Giggles, someone's avoiding you Andy. :p
Thanks for the nice words guys. When the southeners catch up to us and get busy again  , I'd be happy to be a moderator of some sort of capacity if they can't handle the load. In any case AstinaGT has been slow until the last couple of days, so we'll see how things develop...
As for segregating the states, I'm not entirely sure if Andy meant for someone to be a moderator of the QLD chapter or just some representation of the northern members since all the mods are currently from the exclusive VIC, ACT and NSW areas. Andy?
Take it easy,
Gav.

i was trying to get across that there is a lot of members up here, and many members who have made 10+ hour drives there and back to be at a cruise. only ahb11m has made a trip to qld specifically for a cruise. if we're willing to go out of our way, we should have a greater say in the behind the scenes running of the board. also it would be nice to be able to have posts stickied, deleted, moved etc when the need arises. i was not suggesting this as a help lighten the load as this is not a busy board by any means.

Twiggy: Not sure how to answer that one......
Maybe it's because I am shy, quiet, never stick my nose in other peoples threads, and never have an opinion.....
LOL
I do get what you are saying Andy, about having a mod of your very own.
(hug him and squeeze him and call him george!)
And Gav would be a good choice, but lets face it, it is up to the existing moderation staff and administration to determine it.
Personally, I feel that too many cooks will spoil the broth.
We need the interaction across all the states to stop it becoming cliquey.
When more moderators are needed, everyone will know about it, ok?

Hello Canadians.. ;)
T'was a good suggestion, although the decision is ultimately up to Tony. Unfortunately at the moment though, the Moderator Group is a closed group. But i guess if things grow at a mind boggling rate then a call might go out.

cliquey - its like a little exclusive group, seperate from everyone else...
To my limited understanding, I think...

oh, I don't know about structure, and I'm not really here often enough to care, but I reckon having a mod from each state would help this site run better as a whole...
