Price : $167 AUD + shipping (approx)

Knobs :
Price $109-$128 AUD + shipping (approx)

*UPDATE*

THE DETAILS

will fit BG - BJ models

all are interchangable ... i know this because i have a BJ Shifter in my BG ;)

i will try to get a price for you as soon as possible. The price will be plus postage. if everyoone pays me the money i will transfer straight from my paypal account and the items will be posted straight to my place (cheaper). i will then break everything up and post it off either straight to your door or can post them in groups to someone in your city and you can pick up from there and organise your own group fitting days etc.

this is a good chance for us to get high qaulity items at a cheaper than usual price, and possibly poersonalised for the club too :D

and please note ... if we get hit by customs on the way in (possible but not likely!) i will be spliting the bill amongst the group buyers (including me)

getting back to basics, what is on offer here is a shortshifter and wieghted knob.

THE SHIFTER

The shortshifter, as the name suggests reduces the throw required to change gear, hence reducing the time it takes to change, reducing your overall times.

THE KNOB

The weighted knob has been developed to help with the shifting of gears. the shifter will still work fine without the knob, the knob simply aids the transfer from one gear to another ... at this stage we may also be able to get a small logo (club or otherwise) engraved on to the top

THE BUSHINGS

kartboy bushing ... dont need em ... deleted

there has already been successful group buys in the past with these shifters with no problems (cept from gav who is now known as the whinging pom :p)

if anyone has any questions or wnats to correct / add to what i have said now is the time or may you forever hold your piece.

I'd definately be interested for both the shifter and the knob! The TWM guy said we would be able to get kartboy bushings sent out with them aswell to save on shipping, would anyone else be interested in that?

They did have the knobs and shifters togehter on special and before that just the shifters alone cheaper...also the kartboy bushings that people used to buy for the TWM short shifters aren't needed anymore as they are a different design with ball bearings instead. The kartboy bushings that chicaboo used were at the other end of the linkage and are NOT the same as most people who bought the previous type of TWM s/shifter.

Whoops also forgot to say that once you order more than one short shifter (as in whats going on here) you will run the risk of paying tax...one shifter is less than what customs will bother with in price. The custom engraving sounds good but it would be better to get a blank one..and get it engraved yourself.

For shipping it depends on the service used and what value is on the package, ... by Canada post sending "commercial samples" will not invoke any customs,..just a note :)

Hey Marc, please wrap their packes in some packaging paper or use more packaging tape so they don't lose any contents from the goods. Better still, the washers and bolts should probably be put in a plastic zip bag just to be safe...

Commercial samples No longer works in Australia....even gift is now treated as if you bought it. And when they do investigate what is in it, they overprice it and it takes weeks to get it out of customs. My friend bought a camera it was declared as "commercial sample" and it took a month to get out and they charged him more GST than if it was just declared correctly. My advice is work out whether a group buy with the GST/customs slug is more than just buying them individually. If a lot is saved on postage and the extra tax doesn't make it cost more, than go for it. And I think it will be the postage that will make or break it.

Hi guys,

I'm getting the pricing to you shortly, just want to make sure about the shipping as quotes don't always reflect the true cost.

As for the Kartboy bushings, unfortunately it doesn't look like we'll able to help you out on that front (conflict of interest), we can look into other bushings though if needed, like Energy Suspension...

Keep the feedback coming though, the amount of interest will make it possible for me to give the best price.

Thanks,

Just a word, have a talk to Chicaboo about the newer type TWM S/shifters if you haven't. They have a different attachment to the gearbox linkage compared to the type that everyone bought last year that don't require the kartboy bushes. However from what Chicaboo has been telling me, they are more temperamental and the bolt that goes through the bottom on the shifter is a lot thinner and prone to snapping. The old type used the stock bolt, hence this wasn't a problem.

I think part of the problem is the spacers provided are not long enough for the BJ's heatshield. So when the shifter is in 1st, 3rd and 5th, it or the shift arm hits the heatshield, which is where I think a SOME of the difficulty was coming from when I had trouble engaging these gears. But mind you, the weighted shift knob I put on there last week made the problem half as bad as it was.
Also a vigerous drive the day after I put the weighted shiftknob on, loosened it up even more, hopefully the cheapest thing that was chafing has worn away and not my shifter or shift arm! The problems I have been having should be rectified with some fancy transmission oil and a visit to my heatshield with a mallet...

I will let you guys know what I find under the car this weekend,
Gav.

Your shifter comes with bearings to be exact. Unless you are still offering the old style model that used the bushings out of the base of the stock unit?
The bushings that people have been talking about go on the gearbox where the dead shift arm attaches to it. These are well worth the $60aud+ shipped from Corksport!

That's what I meant :) As for the gearbox bushings, they will transfer a lot of vibration to the shifter, why exactly would you need/want to upgrade to these? My original gearbox bushings have given me no issue whatsoever (just my personal opinion) with regards to comfort or shift feel.

Hi Marc,

The gearbox bushings are a strange beast, they actaully took a lot of waggle out of my shifter alltogether which was good. I probably have more vibration over a shorter distance, but it is so fine now I don't motice it, and the large waggle on the shifter beforehand was much worse I must say. Plus the precision of the shift is so great with the gearbox bushings, but it does get pretty tight with the BB style shifter.

I'm thinking about putting my name down for a shifter, just got a few questions.

for starters, what is the length of the shifter from the ball joint to the tip of the thread? I have cut my own standard shifter down a few times and want to compare length.

Is the short shifter a diferent length after the ball joint compared to the standard unit? i presume so as other wise this would basically just be like my current ghetto hax0red shifter.

Finally how far is the throw between 1st and 2nd?

Thanks for ya time,
I'm definatly keen. Just need to sort out my money first.

OK Guys question time,

I have recently bought a Short Shifter for the Astina (BA) and have been thinking about the shift knob. I noticed that people have mentioned that a more weighty knob is better as it helps balance the shifter and makes shifting easier. The question is then what is a better weight? The BA's standard shifter weighed in at 300g.

Mate i have this shifter in my Bj11 Protege sp20 and it goes off ;) I have the TWM Silver Gear knob as well. Took a lil getting use to as its a wierd shape but it has a good feel and good to use your palm of hand to change gears.

TWM Performance
11-05-2005, 03:34 AM
Hi guys,

I can offer the combo (shifter + knob) for the following prices:

Shifter + stainless steel knob: $238 AUD plus shipping
Shifter + gun blue knob: $257 AUD plus shipping
Shifter + flat black knob: $257 AUD plus shipping

Normally shipping is $45 AUD per shipment, if I ship them by volume of 5 I can ship for $112 instead of $220. This method of shipping takes up to 8 business days which I think will be the best option. Surface mail is cheaper ($70 AUD) but might take up to 5 weeks.

So a kit would cost each $260 AUD shipped instead of the regular $309.50 - $328 AUD if you would order individually.

You can base pricing for just shifters or knobs on this example, shipping goes mostly by weight so if it's not all combos it will be a bit cheaper in shipping also.

I will have more info on the custom logo knobs soon, this will only be available at this point on the stainless steel knobs btw as the logo will be laser-etched on top.

Thanks,

Good news on the custom knobs, just got word back. For a quantity of 10+ knobs we can do it for an extra charge of $10 AUD per knob,...usually there's a setup fee of $15 per logo but I'll wave that if you guys want to go ahead. Unfortunately if we have less than 10 I'll have to charge the fee.

We did a sample to show you how it looks:

Hi Tublade,

Custom logo pricing all depends on quantity, if you guys want at least 10 it's no setup charge and like $10 AUD per knob,...if you want just 1 or 2 knobs it's more like $20 AUD per knob. Unfortunately I can't really get that price down. For 50+ it's actually free.

Tublade, I can check what I can do to get you the .44. It's a really nice knob,...at this point we have silver, purple, blue and black bolts for it, not red though (working on it). They're getting finished at this point so we don't have them in hand, but let me know if you prefer that one and I'll see what can be done timewise ( I don't want the order to be on hold for the other guys as you can understand).

Here's a pic to compare:

Well I must say that it is fairly different to the stock setup. In a good way ofcourse ;) Only problem I have is that 1st and 2nd are fairly stiff but I put that down to my synchros. I would definately recommend it to anyone that's interested.

HI-RES
22-06-2005, 06:12 PM
dont worry it'll take a couple of weeks to wear in and then you'll be sweet.
mine was as stiff as a dozen viagra, but like said drug, it wore off eventually :D

your appreciation of this mod will grow over time, basically.
I got kartboy bushings too, and a kartboy shifter for that matter.

Good work guys
