I'm wanting to replace my clutch. Mine feels like its getting old and crappy.

Just wondering, how much do u think it would cost all up ( supply & fit ) to replace with a normal clutch, how much for a good clutch ( ie heavy duty, ceramic etc ) and is it worth the extra for a car which doesnt have any immediate plans for leaving the N/A path?

[color=#000000:post_uid1]If you have had the car for years and this is the first clutch
replacement then your driving doesn't really chew them up
so a std would be fine if you got no plans on upgrading.
From memory labour to remove & replace a gearbox is about
$250 then add oil & clutch costs.

car. Had the worsed shudder and would slip anything
above 5-7psi. Go the Daiken. Is around $300-350 less
for std. Has handled over 2 years of turbo abuse no
problems.

in typical v6 astina style, the parst are unique to ONLY the v6 astina, no other cars, and are hard to find at that :(
The mechanic couldnt find any in melb and so had to have the parts sent down overnight from sydney. Then there was trouble fitting one coz the one in my car had seized.
So it took 3 days before i got my car back. ( including having the timing belt replaced ).

but anyway,
To ckeck the existing ones and replace with reconditioned driveshafts,

Labour was $216
Parts were $409
So $625 in total

and then a 4 wheel alignment coz they had to pull apart the hubs. I think only to get the seized one out. $55

btw, replacing timing belt was abt $350 inc. parts and labour.

I gotta get round to it sometime as well, I'm still on the original after 170000kms. At least it shows its looked after!

Engine mounts are the biggest rip off of a part ever- Mazda wanted to charge $240 each for a piece of hard rubber. Ended up $95 from Auto-One but still a rort.[/color:post_uid0]

Japan imported for less than that and made out of harder
material as well.

Hope I don't need any soon then at that price.
