thanks shane

Yep.. certainly does work.. Cosmo had it in his ADM Astina Hardtop.. He had a little trouble with the sensors though from memory..

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH goes running from the room!!!!!!!!!
Yeah it can work. You need a few parts though;
Climate head unit
Dash loom
Blower unit
heater core sensor (and sub loom)
ambient temp sensor (and plumbing) sits behind the three slots to the right of the glove box
Top temp sensor the little dome right of the right defrost vent
Body computer (and wiring from the dash loom to the body computer to make the A/C work) I didn't have this as only the JDM wiring manual has this detail so the A/C was controlled by a switch not by the Climate Control).
What you loose;
Dash dimmer (required for ADRs)
Fog lamp wiring (my fog lamp switch became my A/C switch)
Beyond that it worked realy well and if you're in Melb and have access to a frontcut then I'd be happy to help. That way I can finaly put a tick in that box.
Else run away, far away 'cos it's a fricken nightmare and cost me more time and effort than it was worth.

Oh yeah,
Freeky side effect, the body computer beeps when in reverse gear. I think it's a Jap-Spec thing).

i think one of the extra sensors just read that you were of an older generation and adjusted accordingly :P

why waste so much time for a climate control, just open your windows if youre getting hot!

When it works it will defrost the screen 1st thing on cold mornings and adjust as the engine heats so you don't need to fiddle with it. It is quite a funky little device but as mine cost me nothing for the parts so it was worth playing with.

I was only kidding mate...I reckon it`s a pretty cool gadget to have. One of my mates is selling is BA hardtop for $8000. It`s a 1.8L auto(130000kms). He has some sort of climate control in it...I saw the different options displayed on a little screen. Is it the japanese version?

hmm, you'd have to buy a door skin with it in!

If you want Japanese stuff, sell your car and get a JP import. Its so much easier. You will also get a more powerful engine I suppose.

if i wanted a import i would not be driving an astina i would be driving something else...besides i am doing this for fun just like people do other mods like turbo charging

FWIW there's some good stuff on mx6.com about these conversions on the MX6's which use basically all the same gear. I think I saw a wiring diagram as well. It's certainly somethign I'd like to do on the Lynx shoudl the parts come up cheap enough (ie free)

Yes it is. I have the same thing.

Now I'm back in a 'stina I'm sure it can be done, it will be done.
First I need to get the AC working, then I can play.

Dumb. I never use it because most of the time it insists on max fan speed which is too noisy.

Hi guys,
I'm new here and I need your help. I need a Climate control/Air-Con wiring diagram for 1994 Mazda Lantis (import). I'm having problems with A/C: it cuts off from time to time after working for about 10-15mins (blower works, the A/C has been re-gassed, no leaks). None of the electricians-mechanics could fix it w/o the diagram.
Many thanks, much appreciated.

I doubt it, as it is an import - correct me if I wrong, but I think Australian BA Astinas (1994-1998) don't have climate controls.

I have some diagrams for the JDM but they are in Japaneese ;)
I don't have a list of the error codes though.

Thanks for replying guys. I might get in touch with Mazda, but it's very unlikely they'll help me. When they see an import, they roll their eyes...
Cosmo dude, if you have it in electronic format (climate control wiring or air-con wiring diagram), would you be able to email it to me or post it somewhere? I would assume they'd have Katakana writing on it - if so, I'd get somebody to translate it. Cheers

I'll post it up tomorrow, I couldn't be assed getting my laptop out this evening (I can't remember the logon and would need to configure an FTP).

Here you go... Enjoy
Link gone, PM if req'd
Thanks to Shane for getting them and Mrs Shane for the translation.
Oh, does the condensation drain work on your Astina? If it doesn't then the core can freeze and the computer will turn the compressor off until it thaws.
The fault codes are read from the diagnostic plug and are likely to be the same as other mid '90s Mazda climate control units (Eunos 500, 800, 800M).

Cosmo Dude,
I even don't know how to thank you, you are champion!
Thanks again, I'll let you know if it's fixed in the next few weeks.
Big thank you to all involved - scanning, hosting & even translations!
You've made my day, guys! :D
P.S. Condensation drain works, I checked it yesterday.
