Red Frog
16-07-2005, 06:28 PM
omg.....when was the last time i surfaced on here? lol ;) i have cruise fever in my veins and if free, would love to come cruising and catch up with the gang!! :)
i say bundeena, but i'm equally up for cataract dam (how many yrs have we been planning to go there for? lol ;) ). also wouldn't mind peats ridge to wiseman's ferry. but galston gorge is....well a frickin pain, esp. if we get stuck behind a slow doe or a bus :P and pacific hwy to terrigal, been there done that. HOWEVER, mind u, somersby (brisbane waters np) is beautiful :) and i can take u on a bushwalk and be AGTs personal guide ;) lol (have done 4 excursions there!!).
neways, if u pick a wkend i'm free and i have money for petrol and sum grub, i'm up for it :) XX

yeah when I lived near Hornsby I used to go through there a least once a fortnight at night. Hardly any traffic and was great fun, good way to kill half an hour or so.

I don't care where we go as long as its not central coast or newcastle as we always go there

My LSD hated some of those extreamly tight turns, couldn't stop the car from sliding, it was a matter of throw the front into the corner, and let the rear slide a little (making sure knowbody is coming the other way).

I missed the galston cruise omc held so im choosin GORGE!!!!!!

goldsp
19-07-2005, 11:48 AM
yeeeeeeeeeeeew the gorge has some corners which 1st gear is needed for and then because of the road suface if you boot it out of the corner the wheels love to spin nd the gradient of the road is fair good.

on the omc cruise i was stcuk behind a 121 which was a bitch , because she sat on the speed limit and alot slower around corners.

chris and brenton you will love the gorge if that where we end up.

mazdamanik
19-07-2005, 01:41 PM
1st gear hey....sound slike one hell of a place =) cant wait....if we dont end up going there maybe u and ur bro and chris and myself can go down one day anyways

goldsp
19-07-2005, 02:31 PM
yeh on cruises the gorge gets a bit slow because people take these corners with a good amount of caution , but caution is not fun .

they turn back on them selves like no other roads i know

mazdamanik
19-07-2005, 02:34 PM
i think with the guys currently lined up to go....there will only be one speed =)

arden

you should hardly need to touch 1st gear in the gorge, I think I used to only go back in the 2 very tight hairpins, just go faster to keep the revs up in 2nd gear.

i didnt drive on the last cruise through the george but i certainly do whish that i was driving because i know jonno was having fun except for the bubble in front, but it was good further down the road when we overtook that car, it was so funny when she was on the UHF going slow down some of us are on our p's but that wasnt stoping the drivers who were on their p's, we got a fair bit infront of the group and some how the little bubble managed to catch uu.

bradsp20
21-07-2005, 08:55 PM

tidy protege
25-07-2005, 10:24 PM
Ok peoples it looks like the general consensus is people want to go to either Galston Gorge or Cataract dam, - south west of Camden. Based of the amount of talk about "Galston Gorge" through this thread and how centeral it is out of all the destinations for the majority of people interested i reakon that we should go there.

Datewise As said before August is a busy month, but finally the OMC Anniversary Cruise Date has been set which means that we can set our date. I was thinking that Sunday the 14th of august might be a goer datewise.

I was thinking that we could meet at Homebush on the sunday morning in P6 carpark or we could meet up at Thornleigh Maccas, but its up to you guys.

i dont know yet, im thinking probably at this stage. How does the South (going towards sydney) Bound Caltex Twin servo sound for the meeting spot for the Newcastle people.

As said before we can meet the Sydney based Cruisers at either P6 Carpark at Homebush or Thornleigh Macca's.

If I'm going, you could follow me out. I'll be coming from Sara more than likely. Gotta confirm that I'll be free.

I was going to head out to Ourimbah and wait at that little park area west of the F3 till the others hit the Westfield sign just North of the exit. By the time you get going and on the F3, you'll be joing the tail end.

29-07-2005, 04:40 PM
hey craig :)
yeah if it stays aug 14th i'm up for it :) probably easier to meet at thornleigh maccas and those guys from the central coast could jump off at the pennant hills exit, drive down to maccas and we can all leave from there. it's just that everyone knows where thornleigh maccas is (rather than carpark 6 at homebush), it's central and we won't encounter a) much traffic at all on the way thru hornsby and b) hardly many traffic lights --> less ppl getting left behind/lost on the way. then crosslands is a great place for a bbq. not too sure what's been mentioned for lunchy-munchies yet.
but count me in for the 14th, as i'm itching for a cruise! :)

goldsp
29-07-2005, 05:15 PM
p6 carpark is so easy to get to

tidy protege
29-07-2005, 09:41 PM
i think thornleigh macca's sounds like the goer because homebush is 20 minutes out of our way, where as thornliegh macca's it not far of the horsnby f3 exit.Plus it would give those who have woken up ealry a chance to have a nibble before we hit the road again.

As for the cruise destination that is something im not 100% on as a few people have expressed there concerns about making it onto wisemans ferry, so any input from some sydney/coast locals would be greatly appreciated.

Meet up times im thinking that we would need to be in sydney by 9.00 or 9.30 so that means that people from newcastle/centeral coast may have to be up kind off early, mind you im sure that all over off will be more than awake after a short period of time with exciting cruise driving.

Because alot of us are coming from different directions in newcastle, i think if we were to just meet at the caltex south bound twin servo that may be the easiest and least complex approach, the coastal boys could all meet together at the f3 on ramp where Butters plans on meeting us and we will then proceed onto meet the sydney/wollongong members at thornleigh macca's.

Until we get some alternative ideas for posible destinations, wiseman ferry stands as the destination. The roads were awsome fun on the Oz Mazda Club cruise and ill be driving this time so it should be an awsome cruise.

Please tell any of your friends with 323's who arnt members on the forum that they are more than welcome to come on the cruise as this is a great opportunity to meet some new people and see some pretty smart looking 323's.
