Saw this mentioned in wiredones post, where does this rule come from, I have never heard of it, and can find no mention of it. Does anyone have a link to where it says oiled filters are illegal in Victoria?

I have a copy on paper in my car.

I'll try to remember to get it when I go to move it later.
It was given to me by my engineer - he definitely knows his stuff !

I've searched everywhere..is it actually illegal full stop for every car or something that is a criteria for engineer cert. I searched all over vic roads and the EPA site and found nothing that mentions it. Even google only brings up vague references in car forums.

bugger now that I want it I can't find it ...

not sure if an engineer will pass it.

I wouldnt worry too much tho - its one of those things not many people know about.

My car apart from the rear tailights is stock...although lots of people think the spoiler was added on, so I'm unlikely to be pulled over under suspicion of a modded car. Except the car might get picked on for looking "sporty" Noone would know the filter is even in there, except for the K & N sticker on the airbox that says don't throw me out...for the mechanics on the airbox, but everything else is normal, so I would be really unlucky to be picked on. Knowing my luck and the local police rep in the area I will get pulled over and they will spot the sticker on the airbox..On the other hand I'm still not convinced about oil not getting on the MAF/O2 sensor from these things.
