Currently I’m running splits in the front doors, 6x9's on the parcel rack and box in the boot.
I've been thinking about adding speakers to the rear doors. Anyone done this before? If so how did you do about wiring them up?

You will probably find them wired (that's the standard possition for the hatch), have a bo peep. The standard hatch rear door speakers are 6".

If is worth doing is another question.

if you just get some nice 6 1/2 inch splits up front..

and a nice set of 3 way 6 1/2 inch in the rear thats all you need man !

If you runnin subs... 6X9s ruin the bass..

thats what ive found out... dunno why ... just does..

I was running 6x9s in rear then switched to 6.5 3 ways and there was a good difference =D

The rear doors... pointless ..

Unless you just want a basic 6 speaker sound system.. with no sub.. then your idea would be good..

but your prolly want a sub.. so too much treble just over powers your sub bass in the end..

just my 1.25 cents

yeah i got 6x9's in my rear doors, but i have a 89 bg.but it was pretty simple ey,when u open the door there should be a piece of rubber to run ur wire through,i have them running through the doors, down the middle pillars and along door trims up to headdeck.as u might see in the pic i didnt run mine through the rubber but next to it newayshttp://www.boostcruising.com/members/showimage.php?dbpic=10580

the rule of thumb with car audio is do it once and do it well.

If you've got the sub playing bass, dont let the other speakers play bass,
the differences in the sound waves clash with each other and the sound quality is degraded.

The same rule applies for the mid and treble ranges . Which is why the top of the range systems wont have rear speakers, just fronts and sub.

To put it simply, the more speakers you add, the worse it starts to sound.
I suggest you spend your $$ on better quality speakers instead of more cheaper ones :)

But anyway, in the BA the rears doors normally have speakers, and if they dont they wires are possibly there anyway.

Well, i dont know whats goin on with everyone else hee but when i got my BA 94' it had stockies, 8x5s in the front and back doors, so is it just me or is the euro model different.
Obviously it is no longer running stockies, but it DID have em

They should have been 5x7 speakers in the front doors.. However it's strange that you would have the same in the rear doors as well. Are you positive that they were 5x7 in the rear doors?

which model were you enquiring about? You can fit 6½" speakers in the rear doors of the hatch with no problems.. You might have to drill a few new holes though as i believe that the standard speakers will have 3 holes in them and most after market ones will have 4 or more..

I have 6½" JBL's in the back and they sound great!

I'm putting 8" in the rear doors of my BA.

mobsta, I've never heard of an Australian BA with oval speakers in the back doors.
