Sadly enough my car was vandalised last night. I've had a telecoms concrete slab thrown onto my bonnet and windscreen. So, not a good start to the day. I'll get some pics up when I can.

On the lawn right next to my bedroom window, there where 3 other cars out the front aswell. It's going to look a little funny when I take it into the mechanics tomorrow for a new water pump and they see that heh. But yeah, whilst it's a pain in the arse, I'm over it. I'll go and see about getting a new windscreen and wiper tomorrow. Other than that I know someone who can help with the bonnet and a respray.

Hey,

That sucks about the damange, I wonder if you could document that with some photos and send the repair bill to Tel$tra? Stranger things have happened!
I saw someone with a replacement bonnet the other week, it was the primer black on a red car. Looked pretty cool, maybe that's something to consider?

Well I actually want to change the whole colour of the car... But I can't afford it atm. Was thinking yellow, but it might look a little funny with a yellow bonnet on a red car heh ;)

I work in that dept. and that wouldn't be the most stupid thing I'd have to reject. People just take no responsability for their own actions.
Like a person claiming a 'Spending disorder' OMFG

BTW Mefo,
Yeah that sux, I hope next week the ******** who did it breaks his leg in the hole he created and gets a needle stick injury from a syringe droped in there.

My Brother's Red BG got damaged as well the other day. Mum lent it to some friends that had there Daewoo blow up.

A truck in front of them had part of the load fall off, damaged the front bar, sliced the front left tyre and took a chunk out of the mag wheel

I might have pics tomorrow if I get time

Like a person claiming a 'Spending disorder' OMFGHehe, that's classic. I hate how those old concrete covers blast up in the air and land on your car for no apparent reason. I guess that's why they make them out of plastic now, causes less damage to your car. :p

Yeah well, the concrete slab wasn't actually secure in the first place according to my neighbours. Telstra must have been doing some work there as there is yellow fencing around the hole. So technically I guess Telstra could be held liable. I just want my my car fixed damnit :(

How heavy are those concrete covers? I wouldn't imagine that a young kid would be able to lift it without some help..

Oh trust me, there's a group of the lil f@rkers that get around here. I've rang telstra and their management has to get in contact with me within 48hrs. Otherwise it goes up a level of management. So I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, it's now been 48hrs since I contacted Telstra and still no reply. I got my car back today with a new windscreen and wiper. However I wasn't quite expecting to pay so much. So now it's just down to the bonnet and paint getting fixed.

You shoud be "esculated" to the next level now. Tel$tra have a responsibility to provide a safe area around the comms pit during maintenance, just the same as any other orginisation does. It'll be interesting to see their response, obviously they are not responsible for idiot children, but it seems the area they were/are working in wasn't left in an appropriate manner if the comms lid was just laying around like that enticing the children to toss around the palce.
Where I used to live there was a broken concrete comms lid in the middle of a footpath which was a real danger, Tel$tra's immediate solution was to put up yellow tape on stakes around the open pit for over a month. Note that you now could not access the footpath, and had to go around it on a steep grade. So the temporary bandaid solution was worse than the problem...

insurance? most insurers give you one free windscreen a year

With Scumcorp you have to chose between free windscreen or bogus hire car in the event of a claim. Can't have both...

You got a complaint number (starts with 1-50xxxxx or 1-51xxxxx) as I said I work in that area. Next time you complain about $$$ remember this thread.

They couldn't help me. The best that they were going to do was send somebody out to replace the cover and pick up the old one which had already been done. She pretty much laughed at me when I mentioned money. So far it's cost me $221 just for the windscreen and wiper (not including labour). Which isn't easy to pay for when you're on the doll. However if I'd gone to the insurance company, I have an excess of $850. I can't see this costing anymore than that. So it seemed kind of pointless. Thanks for your advice though guys. I appreciate it.
