How about this then:
There's a company in Queensland that completly rebuild MX-5's with a 4L supercharged v8. The only original panels left after the transplant are the door panels! It [i:post_uid0]only[/i:post_uid0] costs around $125,000 for one.
Now [i:post_uid0]that[/i:post_uid0] would be fun![/color:post_uid0]
how about a little mazda 121 with a 13b turbo setup.
spin those skinny 14" wheels....
nah, on a series note, i dnot think the excitment level in a turbo mx-5 will be higher than a turbo'd astina.
lots of people think that the astina are used for shopping and pick up the kids, but if your astina can kick a wrx's arse, then thats a diff. story. :)
/i go look for daniel now........ ???[/color:post_uid0]

yeah thats the Bullitt MX-5 i think. runs a wolf computer. apparently the one in the Wolf ad cost a grand sum of $12 to build, as they started with a wreck...
actually i'd love to freak people out and drop the B6T into the 121 bubble :D they do it to festives so it's apparently quite possible to the 121

what reason(apart from being a smartass) would u fix up a 121?
i already knew about that v8 mx5, and i heard that mazda was a bit ****ty about it...
some ppl thought the turbo mx5 was 2 powerful...picky hey[/color:post_uid0]

why does anyone modify any car?
because it's to be different. :p[/color:post_uid0]

what's the power output for the turbocharged mx5?
they would be around 1100kg?
2 powerful? so the car would be more diffiecult to drive? if that's the case, i would have to disagree with that.
a tubocharged mr2 (mid engine, rwd) with 165kw at the flywheel would be more difficult to drive than the turbocharged mx5.[/color:post_uid0]

Well, the original designer of the MX-5 said that even the turbo had too much power for the design, let alone the 4L supercharge v8. And I should imagine that Mazda would be ppretty pissed[/color:post_uid0]

The Bullet (Bullitt? spelling!?!) SS Roadster is $125000 for more than just the engine. Its a lexus 4.0L V8, which can be bought off the shelf for significantly less than $80000. The car has been totally changed..... thinking back to the review in MOTOR they absolutely loved it, including handling. Theres no such thing as a car thats too powerful as long as that car has been modified to handle the power. For example...... 400kw is too much for a Falcon Forte. Suspension is all wrong, wheels too narrow, diff not sorted etc. Tune the car to the extent that a V8 supercar is (fine..... completely changed but u catch my drift) then the car is on rails AND has a truckload of power that can be put to the ground (with a bit of skill).
No real reason that Mazda should be pissed off, not to say that they;re not, but the car barely looks like an MX5 by the time that Bullet is done with it.... plus Mazda's turbo version was about half the price! Bullett is no differerent to any other modifier!
I wont comment on the 121....... but i do know that there is at least one turboed bubble car floating around. :D Seriously![/color:post_uid0]

3pm in the arvo is a bit early to be putting remarks about
me being hammered. *If you had waited a couple of hours
would have had more cred.
Thanks for the drinks Eric. *The cross was great as always.
Cheap drinks at empire followed by the Zen for a bit of
Doof Doof. Bexta rocks.
Also did you see the owner of RBaby is a doorman now
out the front of one of the srtrip joints. *Not the one
we went to, but I wont tell your wife OK.
Just playing along

4 some reason i couldnt see the rotary mx5 pics u put up apparition, but ive always liked the idea. but i think that its only a legal conversion in perth, because the other states have rules about the size of an engine in relation to the car size or somethin. i think the 12A conversion is allowed but the 13B is 2 big. but then isnt there some type of law that u cant put an engine over 15 years old into a newer car?? and what the point of puttin a 12A into anything.
i dunno but they have ways 2 wreck everyones fun.[/color:post_uid0]

When you cant put a 13b in then the 12a will have to do
wont it. *My mate has a nice RX-3 and he cant put the
13b in the and get it engineered. *You cant do it anymore.
So he is going a turbo 12a. *Should still kick butt.
As for having too much power it does happen. *1OFF the
BD4's MR2 has too much power have seen the clips of
it doing laps and because its a dyno car the boost comes
on too quick and it was out sideways all the time.
There is also a car on the serious performance videos
old mazda/toyota/datsun cant remember which but it
looses traction too easily so it actually runs slower
because it cant get it to the ground. *He turned down the
boost and ran faster times so there is a thing of too much
power. *A good strip car does not make a good street car
and not just talking suspension.

I have often thought of getting an older MX5 with turbo
as can be had for 19/20K but they are too small inside
for me with the pedals being too close together.
Even the new ones have that problem. So no matter if
I paid 19k or 129k I would still forever be hitting the
clutch pedal whilst braking with my size 12 feet.
The Astina has more room, never understood that ??

probably becasue it doesnt have as large a transmission tunnel, because the gearbox isnt in the same place :;):[/color:post_uid0]
yeah, i had a similar problem with the mr2. i shoe size is 10.5 and it take a while to get used.[/color:post_uid0]

Wont argue too much Mal, and i know its a helluva a lot more than just suspension, but sort a car out and it can get the power down. Unlike a, well, acquaintance's 200SX which ended up off the road whilst accelerating out of a roundabout when trying to see how it handled near 2 bar of boost.[/color:post_uid0]

Traction is the key word. *Guys run slicks and tub their
cars because they need it to get traction. *Get a car at
that level and put it on the road on street tyres and it
would be stuffed. *With the technology we have available
now with injection, boost control etc etc you can make
motors with incredible horsepower. It becomes easy to
go past the ability of the tyres and then inherent design
problems associated with either FWD or RWD or AWD come
in to play. *Each one has its own problems. Example V8
supercars. *Same horsepower but the ford was never as
good due to smaller wheeltrack so they don't corner as well
and spinout.
