Hi all,

With all this talk about turbocharging cars its got me quite interested (well dreaming really :;): ) about doing some modifications to my V6 to make it really scream.

I was just wondering though if anyone knew if there is a difference between the 4CL gearbox and the one with the V6??

If there are breaking gearboxes on turboed 4CL engines (I know they're GTX motors in Mal's and Tony's but the thought's the same) and if the V6 already has 23Nm more torque then some decent modifications to the V6 would have the gearbox looking like the inside of a toilet bowl the morning after a curry night in no time :p

Dan, What's the deal with the dogbox? Did you do the upgrade in anticipation of the turbo?

cheers, *Andy. :)[/color:post_uid9]

i got the gearbox when i got the rest of the engine from eric *- as a kindof safeguard against breaking a box in the future.

Apparently it's a strengthened housing with billet internals. not an actual dogbox it seems as it's like a normal one (not the loud whine of a dogbox) to use, just better (shifting-wise). And it's got slightly closer ratios - it does about 500 more rpm at 110 than the old box did.

and as far as i know, it's more or less the torque that breaks the 1.8 boxes - the boost coming in in 5th that broke Mals (correct me if i'm wrong) :)[/color:post_uid0]

I am pretty sure that the V6 and 4cly would be different.. the V6 runs a different hub too..

I have been pretty hard on my box and its stood up to standard boost so far... but I have a different box to mal.[/color:post_uid0]

The boys who would know about the V6 box would be them at MX6.com. their 2nd generation came with the 2.5 V6 engine. I would imagine the V6 box wouldn't mate to the BP without first sacrificing a virgin *:p
The V6 has 5 not 4 wheel studs, bigger axles, bigger brakes up front, spunkier wheels.
I remember my good ol' FA4TS 323, I replaced the engine four times without even checking the gearbox fluid :D
