G'day,
Might have seen my post in the Fuel Prices one. Basically, got to uni, and found coolant running from the overflow bottle. Got back to mechanics (at Gosford, an hours drive away), fans OK, thermostat OK, no CO/CO2 in the coolant (ie not head gasket). Put a new radiator cap on, still filling up the overflow bottle. Temp is always OK, never moves (once warmed up), but the F*@king bottle fills up! Any suggestions?

Sorry for the *cough* triple *cough* post, but after driving back from uni, the level in the bottle only went up by a centimeter (if that), so it looks like there was just too much coolant in the system. Will let you know if it gets worse again. :;): :p[/color:post_uid0]

Mate,
You cant really overfill the system. *The radiator can only
take so much and then it leaks on the floor, much like me
on the grog :) *Nah kidding I can hold my liquer !!
The only thing you can overfill is the overflow bottle which
acts as a buffer to allow a little bit of venting when hot &
then sucks it back in. *Sounds like you have a flow problem
which is restricting the water around the engine and as it
has nowehere else to get out... *goes out the overflow.
Run some radiator flush through the system and then hose
all the **** out. *Afterwards remove both hoses and run the
garden hose in the top end till it flows out clean through
the bottom rad hose.

Well, found out I had a crack in the top raditor tank. They've patched it, pressure tested it, and all looks OK. Funny thing is, it's only been in the shop since yesterday morning, but I miss already!!! Get to pick it up this arvo. :)[/color:post_uid0]

Hope it holds mate, everybody I know who has had their top tanks repaired, later have to have them replaced as the crack reappears.[/color:post_uid0]

sirex ==> hmm, don't like the sounds of that, but it's been two weeks now, and it's been good, hopefully I'll break the trend.[/color:post_uid0]
