I just bought one of those DIY brake caliper paint kits. I'm just going to jack up my car (2002 Mazda SP20) in my garage and do it myself. Can i jack up the car using 2 jack so i can do a side at a time instead a wheel at a time. For example, 1 jack lifting the drivers side front wheel and another jack lifting the drivers side rear wheel which in fact gives me thw whole drivers side being jacked up. The 2nd jack needs to be compatible ofcoure. Is this ok or is it a big no-no.

Thanks

Don't see why not. I jack up the front or rear of my car at the same time when i'm adjusting my coilovers.

Just make sure you chock the wheels, i guess :)[/color:post_uid0]

always make sure you use wheel stands

JAcks can fail and the last thing you want is a jack through your fuel tank because you jack failed...

Hey TDK... what's involved in the brake caliper painting?? obviously u have to take the wheel off yeah? do u have to pull other things apart???[/color:post_uid0]

just a note.

the whells ppl i go to told me that a better thing to use to paint ur calipers is the paint they use on kettle ovens. Works HEAPS better apparently :)

another thing they said to do is use rust converter first to get rid of any rust on the calipers, and hubs too if you wanna paint them.[/color:post_uid0]

brad, you basicly jack up the side of the car near the wheel, undo the nuts on the wheel(theres 5), take off the wheel, and there you have it! you just need to tuck some newpaper under the calipers so you don't get paint on the discs, but if you get a little bit on, it'll come off with use of the brake, so don't worry about it too much. you get some heat resistant spray paint, engine paint i think. you go from there. oh, and a tip, spray on lightly to moderately in stages. don't go heaps on at once, as it will drip.

yeah, and what dogo said about rust remover stuff. that helps. its all good.

that reminds me, i've got to update signature.[/color:post_uid0]

Actually, i bought a kit that has everything u need. It comes with a cleaner, brush, paint and hardener. What u do is take off the wheel and the spray on the cleaner. Using a steel brush get all the cr*p off. then give it another spay with the cleaner and then wipe off. You then mix the paint and hardener and then apply using the brush. Easy peasy, Japaneasy.

yeah so did i - but it was a spray thing - TDK was saying here that he used a brush on product, - 2 part - one part paint, one part hardner

Had the same issue with my BA hardtop. I only had kings and a rear swaybar, those chasis are rigid

Sounds like my Jack when I upgraded my suspension. In the small compuunds of my gagage at 11pm my car was jacked up (with acr stands) and when I tried to lower it the jack popped a cog and started tu push the car towards the wall wheneveer I tried to lower it and the same when I tried to raise it.Fearing damage to the side of my car (and knowing that I was due to start work at 6am) I left the car sitting for the night and called a friend at 4:30am to his disaproval to come around with another jack immediately as I had lowered three corners and need ed to egt the last one done to be able to drive my car. I went out and bought a trolley Jack

didthe trolley jack live happily ever after? or did it do what my dads last one did > roll down the driveway wit hthe Corona on top of it and kill the drive shaft!

Actually the strut cylinder on the FIRST one sprung a leak after a few (3) uses and I needed a new one. But as far as the rolling away with a Corona, I usually Jack a car on a flat surface and drink my Corona with lime
