Talk to BoostedBatman about a more affordable supercharged solution.

ive seen it done in japan with no intercooler. if u have an auto there is no way in hell of fitting all the piping in there and if u have a manual it is possable but its goin to be a very tough job. i rkn its possable tho but my end up very costly.

they way ive seen it done in mount the turbo where the airbox is, or move the battery to the boot and put the turbo there. i rkn u can do a twin turbo set up but u will need some very small turbos (garrett gt12 or similer) and mount them very low on each side of the bank putting an intercooler would be hard.

i have pics of setups for mx6's and probes(they use the same engine just 500cc bigger) with turbos but i got nowhere to post them.

an easyer way of gettin heaps more power is putting the jspec 2.5L v6 in the astina, std these cars have 149 at the fly which is a huge improvement over our 104kw, these engine basicly bolt strait in and u can get a half cut for around 2500 which is just a bit more expencive than a new turbo

I don't reckon it would be that much of a difference in price after you buy a turbo, pipe work, managment system etc, I'd be seriously looking into the jap spec engine, sounds like a good idea, and would be more reliable than turboing you original engine.

turbo = 1200-1500 for a t25 new
ecu = anywhere between 1600-3000
piping = heaps, i do stainless steel fabriction and tryin to fit a turbo in the engine bay would be a hard job
other stuff(fuel pump, injectores ect) = prolly around 1000

total = around 4500 for a cheap job

i had though of puttin a turbo on ages ago but then gave up cos it would be too costly and time consuming.

i worked it out ages ago a kf running 6psi of boost with the only upgrades are fuel pump, injectors and ecu put out around 150-160kwatw, i can get this outa a kl-ze(2.5l v6) very easily for a bit less and as ripper siad it would a heaps more reliable and wont have as many problems with the police/rta cos it will look std :D

This is an unfinished project through probeaddiction and arent ready for sale yet but this is the best setup I have seen yet but you still will only be able to run nomore than 6lb boost on a "healthy" engine or you will be in the poop

I personally wouldn't boost any engine without taking the right precautions eg: pistons, rods, fuel pump, injectors, ecu, valvetrain etc and this is always expensive
To boost a K series engine I wouldn't expect a proper job to cost less than around $6500

Just thinking out loud.

If you were to use a KJ ILO a KF or KL you would have an engine built for FI, just take out the super charger, change to the KF inlet manifold and KF (Otto cycle) cams. Bingo you should have a 2.3 litre engine ready for turbo charging.

Well that's a simplistic view but something to think about.

hey batman wat about supercharger ??? is it worth exploring that avenue?
