Is the type of car used restricted? ie: Street registered...?
woofy
12-10-2005, 08:36 PM
sounds dodgy....160-200km/hr......accidents aplenty!
mcwilly
12-10-2005, 09:12 PM
so that means that you can be fined for speeding? sounds pretty good except i can see ppl totalling there cars and themselves pushing to hard. accidents do happen
woofy
12-10-2005, 09:55 PM
thats what I can see as well, theres been accidents at cruises let alone a race on public roads. I don't think balls has much to do with ppl doing 160-200km deliberately for something like that, I'd be saying something is missing between their ears.
mcwilly
12-10-2005, 10:11 PM
if it was all blocked off to the public fair enuff but doing that kinda thing when theres other traffic on the roads thats just silly. its fine if your putting ur self at risk because thats ur own choice but indangering other people for a bit of fun is pretty silly. i also wanna keep my license, i could see cops finding out about it and having a field day

you can reduce speeding by having penalties for being under the alloted time and also over the alloted time. on the way to the checkpoint you need to collect information such as phone box numbers and other weird poop.
i wont be in - that's the sydney drag racing time

Well aint in it sounds a fair bit too dangerous for me...you can just see someone now rounding a bend to overtake a car a then get taken the Fcuk out by a truck or a damned volvo driver.
Goodluck fellas

15-10-2005, 12:28 AM
speed + 1.8: astina (which u guys have lol) = a slow but stady death
nar im kidding go 4 it. i havent pushed mine past 120 but then again i just got it yesterday n the 120 was on a 60 road. to many cops where i live. sux ass :(
woofy
15-10-2005, 06:07 PM
That wasn't covering, i honestly can't believe people got so worked up about alittle statement that i said.
you edited and cut out that bit, then asked the thread to be deleted, if it was fine, why'd it get cut?
and i can't believe any of these road angels haven't raced their friends down the highways at 150 before.
Nope never, by myself on a private road yes, 150 on highways ends up badly sometimes
Please don't kid yourselves. We know you have! Woofy was correct in saying that people who drive at 160 have nothing between there ears. But those speeds are done with no one around.
Um except the people involved in it, and anyone else who might be driving those roads, unless its a private one.
This is the 3rd event of its kind in the past 12 months and there hasn't been any crashes. Why? Becasue they don't do 160 around corners or other cars!
Good some people do have something between their ears...and some were probably lucky
Sorry to pick but be careful what you post, as forums are read by powers that be, that love threads like this, and I don't care who crashes kills/ themself/does the world a favour as long as noone else gets wiped out etc by their stupidity. I'm all for natural selection.

What is it with all you sickos, you have the sweetest rides ever. But you listen to music that goes over and over to no end until all the people go crazy and start takin E's and stuff. I just feel sorry for the rides bein put through such torture.
Get some ROCK into you, nothing like a good bit of Thrice, Alexisonfire or some Funeral for a Friend to get an Astina pumpin hard

Never heard of that stuff/bands, but I'm sure it's good for bagging your head and loosing brain cells. Ha ha.
I'm sure we all listen to techno as part of a healthy lifestyle with variety. It's not the only music style you know!!!

Some uneducated people are not aware of what street rallies are. I will inform those people and others also who want to know, so that we all have a better understanding of what they are. And then people can make the own judgements on these event based on the merits of the facts and not the personal opinions of some narrow-minded individuals who do not know what they are. If someone is trying to organise an event and has included you in the invitation, accept it or decline it! Do not sour the event by using negative or hollow words.
These events have had many different names since there inclusion into motor sport. Cannonball
Run, Paris to Dakar, Monte Carlo Rally, The Variety Bash and the Queensland Challenge are just some of the examples of car rallies and their various names and types. Some run on closed roads, some travel on normal street roads and some combine a mixture of both. Both are exciting and fun in their various different forms.
These events have been run since the 1950's when started in Europe as a way for the rich and
privileged who owned cars, to tour across their countries and show that they where rich enough to afford such luxuries. Since then these events have evolved into 2 different sports. The 1st evolution is what we have come to know and love WRC (World Rally Cars,) this is the best that racing has to offer. The 2nd evolution is still the original format from the 1950's. That is now what we have come to known as street rallying.
Street rallies are timed events where entrants start at 30, 60 or 90 second intervals. These interval times vary depending on driver skill and event starter numbers. The aim of the competition is to have fun and enjoy oneself. Travel along designed route and stop at checkpoints along the way. Not stopping will result in time penalties. Yes! This it is a timed event but you are not racing in close proxsimity to other cars as the starting intervals are designed to prevent multiple cars from totalling each other. Stupid behaviour, speeding and life endangerment are not encouraged and excess of these traits listed may result in time penalties or even total disqualification from the event.
An example of street rally event: -
09:30am - 09:45am Get together and chat
Meet new friends etc
09:45am - 10:00am Driver/navigator pre-event and stage 1 rundown
(5-10 minutes)
10:00am - 10:30am Stage 1 start - stage takes approx. 90 minutes to complete
Cars leave at preset intervals - random starting order
10:30am - 12:00pm Follow map/guides and travel along some beautiful mountain roads
Stop at checkpoints when requested to gather information on sites
12:00pm - 12:45pm Lunch - 1/2 way pit-stop
Meet new friends etc
12:45pm - 01:00pm Driver/navigator pre-stage 2 rundown
(5-10 minutes)
01:00pm - 01:30pm Stage 2 start - stage takes approx. 90 minutes to complete
Cars leave at preset intervals - quickest car from stage 1 goes first
01:30pm - 03:00pm Follow map/guides and travel along some beautiful mountain roads
Stop at checkpoints when requested to gather information on sites
03:00pm - 03:15pm Awards ceremonies
Prize giveaways etc
03:15pm - 03:30pm Another get together and chat
Meet new friends etc
03:30pm - Whenever Afternoon dinner, drinks, bbq etc
I hope that is has enlightened a few people on what car rallying is and how you can benefit from a day of fun by being in one of these events. It is also a great way to meet new people and swap ideas, tell stories and learn new skills. Please if you require any more information, I am always happy to help.
And remember or stay safe, keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up. Cheers.
