Hey guys,

I been told that Astinas (BG) 90-94' came in 4WD in Japan.

Can anyone confirm this?
Apparently they were NA 4WD with BP engines.[/color:post_uid0]

Hmm. i know the 323 sedan of the same era came as AWD (also GTX spec) and that the 98-03 (BJ) Astina came as a AWD...

But as far as i know, the BG Astina never came as an AWD.

but i could be wrong - it's been known to happen :;):

and welcome to another FL member :)[/color:post_uid0]

Could be cause the Ford Laser TX3 (of the same era) 1.8i (identical engine to the Astina SP DOHC engine) turbo had the AWD and that was fully imported from Japan as opposed to being built in Oz like the rest of the Laser.

I think this is an Urban Myth about a 4WD Astina pre BJ.
There were 4WD & turbos in the familia range other than the
GTX and GTR but I have never see on any Japanese website
or documents about import cars a 4WD or Turbo BG Astina
or BA Astina. I have heard that the floorpan and wheeltrack
on a BG Astina is same as a familia and that the 4WD is possible
but havent ever seen this done. I have also heard a BA Astina
being made 4WD by welding in the floor of a TX3 but having
never seen or heard of it except from the one guy also think
its a UL.
