is that 400wrms? what amp you using? can the amp handle load the 2 subs will put on it?

for eg - i had to get a dual 2ohm sub or a single 4ohm sub as my amp cannot handle a 2ohm load when bridged...

I was told once that 1 x 12inch is better than two 10's, and one 15 is better than two 12's etc. I have a single 12inch Orion (american brand) that i've got to get around to putting in my BG. Had it in My commodore wagon, so got to make a smaller box.

its more about quality than quantity from what i have read on CAA...

You have to determine a few things before you can go saying what sub/subs combo do I need?
1. What type of music do I listen to mostly.
2. Do I just want loud bass, ie for spl comps
3. Or do I want quality sound.
4. Do I have the space for the required boxes with 2 subs.
What everyone else said has good points but it is a bit more involved than that. If you have two 12's then use both. Running off the same amplifier, and using your 2 subs, 2 12's will sound better and louder than one 12 running off the amp because the subs are not required to work as hard when there is 2 of them. They share the load if you like.
But then 1 really good quality 12 will out perform 2 poor quality 12's.
Then you look at the boxes they are going into as well.......
That's a science in itself.
Bottom line is if you have the space and the subs, use both, as long as your amp can handle the different ohm rating when you put two subs together.
anandsingh if you have any more q's on it pm me and I'll help you out if you like.

This is true but the bigger the sub to slower the sub i have 2 800w fusion duel voice coil 12s running at 2 ohm and there great.
very quick subs as well
