just after some thoughts on doing the full transplant from the good ol' GT-R (turbo, 4WD) into a BA hatch...
a lot of work maybe, but a nice way to get kW's onto tarmac?[/color:post_uid0]

About as much chance as me being able to slap a
naked Alyssa Milanno's ass and get her to say who's
your daddy to me. :D :D I wish !!
GTR motors are as rare as and the best ones have
all been snapped up. *Those that turn up are usually
high mileage units. *I think all of us that have done
or thought of doing a Turbo transplant all wish for
a GTR motor but the high price $4k+ and availability
has resulted in us getting GTX motors and looking to
spend the saved money on better components to
make the GTX as strong/fast as the GTR.
Please give it a go, you could get lucky and fluke a
nice low K's one from somewhere but if you have
$4500 to spend buy a GTX and add a new BB turbo
and reco the motor. *Think you will be happier.

I didn't even read the bit about 4wd.
If you can make it work let me know I would be
willing to spend about $7k to be able to have 4wd.
Everybody I have spoken to has said no.
Go a celica box, cheaper, stronger and more
available.
Let me know if you can get it to work

i had imagined them hard to pick up, with our without drive shaft, axle and diff... but it is a goal.
and the GT4 celica box is certainly a nice thought.
but don't worry BigMal, by the time i have suffucient funds, her arse will be old an wrinkly.. :p[/color:post_uid0]

I just think that a 10 year old motor with a ball bearing
turbo that I don't think can be rebuilt is a bit much for
the $4500. The other special parts eg sqeezed pistons
and sodium valves are no good to you if the motor needs
a rebuild. Just be very careful with the selection of motor
as other that have bought really expensive motors have
ended up with junk motors that are almost worthless.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Hi Guys!
This Summer i'm going for a gtr/gtx engine to my 1,5l 323f BA.
just one thing i'm not sure about.
whats diffrent from a gtx to a gtr engine?
bigger turbo and a chip ? and what about my old gear box. will it fit on the gtr/gtx engine ?
have to know. cuz a friend of me have a 92/93 gtr thats crashed, and if that engine is ok, i'll buy the engine and the ecu from him :)[/color:post_uid0]

The GTR is stamped BP-C8 the GTX is BP-26.
Main differences are turbo which is VJ-23 on GTR and
VJ-20 on the gtx. The VJ-23 is ball bearing.
Also has squeezed cast pistons which are stronger, sodium
filled valves for better heat dissapation, revised air intake,
and a revised turbo manifold to suit the larger turbo.
Dont think the 1.5 gearbox would fit as its not a B series
motor like the BP or the B6. You may need to buy a
protege FWD box or go real radical and see if you can
make your car the first 4wd with the GTR box. I heard
a rumour once of a 4wd astina here in sydney australia
where a guy welded in a GTX floorpan but have not seen
it so can guarentee it but sounds like a wild idea.

Sorry for my bad english :)
so whats the diffrent from the Euro version of the 323f BA
to the one that u guys have..
here we have 3 engine choices 1,5l with 90HP the 1,8l with 115HP and the 2l V6 version. that has over 140 HP
the diffrent from the 1,5l to the 1,8l is only that the 1,8l has a bigger top. but the bottom of the engine is the same.
and i think that the gtr/gtx engine is built on the same bottom that the 1,5l and 1,8l is.
but if the engine from the version u guys got down in australia is diffrent from the european version i'll understand that the gearbox won't fit.[/color:post_uid0]

Here in Oz we get the 1.8 4cyl (BP) and the 2.0 V6.
I don't think the 1.5 and 1.8 share the same bottom
end as the 1.6 B6 the block is shorter so unless they
have de-strocked the BP to reduce its capacity ??
but I do think the 1.5 bolt pattern may be different
just like the V6 gearbox is different to the 1.8 gearbox.
Maybe ask some of the UK guys on 323f.net about the
1.5 motor.

Mal[/color:post_uid1]
here is some pictures of the 1,5l engine and one of my car :)
http://62.16.128.92
Well the 1,5 engine has a stroke length of 75,3 x 83,6 and the 1,8 has 83 x 85 so there is a bit diffrent, but try to take a look at the pictures at the link. to me it looks like the 1,8l and the 1,5l engine is exact the same engine if you look away from the top of the engine.
but anyway. if I get the GTR engine. will the 1,5l gear box or the 1,8l gear box fit ? thats the most important thing i have to know before i buy this engine from my friend.
i think that its not a problem to get a gear box from the 1,8l.
try to look at the engine mounts to. is it the same as yours ??
when you did your conversion what did you do?
i REALLY want to do this.. :)[/color:post_uid0]

Well I can say yes to the 1.8 gearbox as that is what I am
running but don't know about the 1.5. Maybe ring a gearbox
repairer or importer and say yours is busted and ask if the
1.8 will fit.
Let us know how it goes.

will try to call the mazda imports here in norway and hear what they have to say.
and then i will buy this engine from him :)
the orginal harness can i use it on the GTR ecu or do i have to get all that from the gtr ?[/color:post_uid0]

Tony,
You want to chip in here. You know how the the wiring
side of it works. All the pretty coloured wires going
everywhere are a bit much for a spanner jockey like me.

Zid / BigMal,
There are some chaps in the states sticking BPT (1.8 Turbo) engines in place of 1.3/1.5 engines in the KIA based Mazda engined Ford Festiva ???
Link = Ford Festiva dot com (http://www.fordfestiva.com)
Pictures, wiring diagrams, and instructions. Check it out :O
P.S. I believe the 1.3 and 1.5 are SOHC B3 and B5 engines, I've thought about this for a Motorkhana and pint sized sprint racer (brakes could be the downfall).[/color:post_uid0]

Looking through the engine swap guide they use the 1.8 box
to match the motor which is what I thought.
Mal[/color:post_uid1]
So if my 1,5l gear box won't fit i need to get one from the 1,8l version.
try to call the mazda imports tomorrow and ask the part number on the gear boxes..
but i think that my box is the same as the 1,8 version, but only with a diffrent ration.
but what about the wiring. whats diffrent from the gtr ecu to the 323f one. will i need to change the whole net ?[/color:post_uid0]
