I'd make those grounds shorter. as short as possible.

as long as it grounds securely to the chassis with a ring terminal and a bolt, and the chassis paint is sanded back to bare metal, you should be ok.

mine is exactly what you said dogo but it isnt as flat as it could be...

i have 1m of 4awg ground cable, i might try DB0984's position and see if its any better...

isnt amp "pop" amp related and have nothing to do with the grounding?

Amp 'pop' is generally just a bad amp, a faulty amp (which could be many different components) or source related.

Do you have any other amps or speakers running of the head unit? If so to they produce any noise when you turn it off?

Also, as Dogo said a shorter grounding position would be good. Voltage drop doesn't just include your positive leads, your ground leads need to be added in as well. The location DB0984 used is good, I used a solid bolt at the corner of the boot just in front of the rear plastic 'floor' which would probably be equally good.

Short ground leads are ideal (in a perfect world 45cm or less) but the lengths in DB0984 are fine for a draw less than say 80 amps with 4 gauge cable.
Most important is GOOD earth, get that metal BARE.

Pops can be lots of things: often un-sophisticated design, sometimes something turning off before the amp does and you hear it.
It should work that sources turn on quicker than amps and turn off slower, then you don't hear the pops.

Can the amp pops damage your speakers or subs?
