im on 14s in firm belief that it's not the size of your wheels... but how you use them... and, becuse im cheap, how much you paid for the tyres :)

however if i were to buy bigger wheels... it would be straight to 16s

Now I'm into Tuna and not Rice, my previous 16 or 17" vote would now go to 14 and 15" rims. Hey, the money I save on rims goes towards phat nasty tyres with big chunky blocks and nice big grippy sidewalls that let me feel the road and not loose corner speed and traction by skipping over the bumps in the Touge. This is all very academic at the moment, as I don't have much avenue to put any of this into practical use for some reason... :D

Bugger all that, I want Eibachs again!

14's atm 16's usually ... how on earth do you get 18 inches on a astina ... my 205/50/16's barely fit on ... and they rub at full turn :P *curses the amount of wheel space on his astina*

Bear
01-08-2007, 07:53 PM
you go to something like a 215/35x18 ... it's what i had my prelude and it didn't bump or scrape anywhere ... if you can run 205/50x16s you should be fine with 215/35x18 buuuuuuuut you might want to check local rego laws to make sure you don't get reamed by the cops/RTA

project.r.racing
29-08-2007, 03:57 PM
215/35zr18 fit fine with any mods to a BA/BJ 323 astina. without any rubbing issues in regards to struts or wheels arch protectors.

You will not need spacers with a 45mm offset. You'll have 5mm clearance from the rear strut. You will need to roll the rear arches though.
I have 18x8 RX rims on mine, 50mm offset.
I have a 3mm spacer on the rear, giving a 47mm offset, and no spacer on the front. My rear arch lips have been removed, and its lowered on Eibach springs. 215/35/18 tyres. No rubby dubby. ;)

Nah been there and done that on other cars this one does'nt need to be lowered the ride is firm enough as it is plus its sitting on a slop not level ground which would'nt help its cause ;) Oh btw just dont hit potholes since 2 of my rims have buckles but only on the inside cant tell looking at them (: $150 each to repair otherwise. The tyres are GT Radials Champiro HPX's 215 x 40 x 17 that are currenty on it. The tyres that were on it in the photo were Yokahama A Drives R1's that lasted 28,000KM's

LOUD NOISES!!!

This is annoying though I get excited thinking there's a new post but nooo.

I think it's actually quite interesting just how many of us have 17's as opposed to others considering 16's were standard on the sp20's and 14's were standard on the other BJ's.. Not sure about the BA/BG's.

What's so special about 17's? Is this the "optimal" wheel to tyre ratio or is it purely the biggest that we can go without getting bumpier than a 15 year old with terrible acne?
