Hey guys,

Just wondering who's got the Koni Sport adjustables [yellow] and how good are they? Obviously better than standard, but what I mean is how adjustable are they?

Also, in conjunction with [research of] lowering my car 2 inches later in the year, I'd like to know what price they are? I found them on the Whiteline site for $245 a piece, just wondering if there is anywhere cheaper? Can we get them direct from the distributor in AUS?

OR

What about the Monroe range of dampers? I have done a little research, the new GT Gas w/ Reflex technology is the only one in their lineup that isn't ride height dependant. Monroe Page (http://www.monroe.com.au) You'll have to enter the details on the top right.

Help guys??!?!?!?

Cheers fellas
Adam

[color=#000000:post_uid0]I've got Koni Yellows, and i've got no complaints :)

They are called Adjustables, but don't be misled. They have a knob on the top that you can adjust to increase the damping force, but it's only meant to be used to adjust them as your shocks wear - ie after 20,000kms or so, you give them a quarter-turn.

i think i was originally quoted about $1150 for them, but eventually got some for $765 (all 4) thru a mate - which is below wholesale by a bit[/color:post_uid0]

Hey fellas.. sorry to drag up an old topic..

Been thinking about the shocks again.. obviously we've talked about the Koni Sports.. has anyone had experience with the Koni Red's? No doubt they'll be better than the factory item..

I have the Sport Yellows and very happy with them.

The Red is more your passenger car style item so less firm and not adjustable or rebuildable like the Yellow ones.

The KYB are another good choice. At Whiteline they think highly of them.
Personally I wouldn't put Monroe on my car again. Wasn't happy with the one set I bought some years ago.

Rupewrecht, who told you about the qaurter turn at 20000k's for koni sport adjustables?

I have them fitted and the instructions show different settings for city ride, gt ride and gt aggressive ride. (I think thats what it says)

Did someone at a garaage or suspension shop tell you?

Just curious.

Cheers

interesting...the guys who've done all my suspension work told me this. but i do the 1/4 turn every 10000kms - that seems to be when i notice the need for it

what ever works for you i guess.

did yours not come with instructions? i can copy them out for you properly if you like.

the guy that put mine in wound them fully around but that was way to hard. boing boing boing, but cornered like it was on rails.

adios

actually yeah that'd be cool if it's not too much trouble.

to be honest tho, i probably dont need to screw mine round too far as they're 3 inches lower than standard all the time, and i only have about an inch of suspension travel

3" ?? the guards look to sit a bit high for 3" , perhaps ur stiffer shocks raise the car a bit, but the coils are set for 3" ? i dunno, cant remember for sure how it looked, but if my springs are 3" and ur coils drop 3" ... but my guards sat lower than urs :?

depends when you see the car - i change the height dependant on where i'm driving!

Anybody been shopping around for some Koni yellows and got a sweet purchase
price. Save me doing some finger walking and ringing around. I am also too
lazy(Dont have time) to drive out to minto for Whiteline to install them. Looking
for someone local but first need a good purchase price.

Does anyone know if the konis are actually shorter than stock shocks at all? After lowering the car with shorter springs, this usually reduces suspension travel by a couple of inches. I wonder if any company has alleviated this by making their shocks slightly shorter?

Koni's suit 2" lowered but if you mill some the thread off the bottom of the insert can
get another 1cm. The thread is about an inch thick which leave about 15mm to bolt
them to the bottom of the strut. You can also cut a little off the bump stop to give a
little extra to but need to be carefull there.

Critter,

Do you happen to know what the part numbers are for the Koni's installed on your car?

Critter

1300212 Front
1300312 Rear

If my car doesn't sell soon I'll pull out the konis, strut braces and rear sway bar to sell off.

I'll need a good set of working struts to go back into my car so will need a swap.

When you buy the Konis you need to cut up your old stuts to get all the brackets and stuff - I've already done all the trickey stuff.

Deon.

Deon,
What brackets you need to add. They slice the top off the strut, take out the
stock shock internals. Slide the insert in and bolt it to the bottom. I can get
a pair for around $550 fitted or $1100 all up what do you want for 2nd hand
ones including freight ??
