I'd like to say a nice big 'THANK YOU' on behalf of me and my new fiance for all you did for us while we were visiting your part of the country. It was greatly appreciated.

Ooh, and I've got the actual ring now... 18ct Yellow gold with white gold claws holding a .33 ct HSI2 (Rare-white, small inclusions not visible to naked eye) diamond. We're going to get the other one resized so she can wear it on her other hand.

And the news, in case you haven't figured it out already... I'm engaged! And today is our 1 year anniversary. Wedding is planned for 9th Feb 2008. Woooo!

Thanks for the comments! The ring is very nice. It wasn't my favourite, but at $2,700 unless I won lotto, it wan't gonna happen.

Luckily, most of the reception is already planned (See Tinas thread) as Iggys take care of everything except photography/video and the actual ceremony. The colour scheme is going to be Fuscia/Saphhire and lighter version of those two colours. The hardest thing is going to be saving the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ needed for it! I'd like to do what Tina is doing and invite everybody, but we've already got 120 people on the list and the reception alone is over $12,000... :(

weddings are fun, but at the end of the day...i don't miss the saving, the crap trying to figure out who to invite etc..and who got pissed off.....the wedding day was good though, and after being at several others since, and in a wedding party for one in march....I have learned that we were much more considerate towards our other wedding party members or should I say my wife compared to other brides. I think at the moment its costing us $1000 so far without including any bucks party stuff or a present...yikes!

At the end of it all, I get to be with the person I wanted to be with, which is what started it all.......lol...honeymoons rock!

Shady: we were more than thrilled to be able to make it a special event for the both of you. We both thankyou for including us :)

I had the same dilemma, how to be able to invite everyone we love, without offending and hurting people's feelings.
Having the guests not buy a gift, but pay for the reception is the only we way can see of ensuring we can have everyone that is close to our hearts there.

I am jealous of your reception venue, sounds fantastic! You are certainly getting your value there.

We are waiting on the Hyatt to give us a dollar amount for the reception without the alcohol, and having a bar set up so everyone can have exactly what they want.
We are also looking at having a buffet setup for the same reason.
Basically, we want everyone to join in on the celebrations and have a fantastic time with us.

My AstinaGT family is so important to me. The first forum I ever joined was AGT, the people are more than my family and so I want them to be a part of this next step in our lives, and of course, join in the festivities.

Ultimately, it comes down to us feeling that the people are what make it special, those around you who genuinely care and love us, while we make mistakes with our speeches, while we stumble over the ceremony (Aaron is determined I am going to agree to having 'obey' in our vows, can you imagine that?????)

We want all of you to be a part of our day, and Shady: we will be honoured to be a part of your special day too.

Congratulations all around. It must be something in the water!!!!!!!

*grins*

Yeah, the reception venue is amazing... as well as all that you have 180 degree views of Brisbane Water (the building is actually partially on piers in Brisbane Water, so it truly is 'total waterfront'!).

Same here, although not sure we'll be able to have an open invitation to the members :(

Ahhhh....

We want all of you to be a part of our day, and Shady: we will be honoured to be a part of your special day too.

Thanks for that! And good luck with the Hyatt... fingers crossed. :)

Thanks guys (and gals)! We've just had some rather bad news though... the cost per person of Iggys is going up for 2008 weddings from $125pp to $140pp...  :( :(

Bummer but it's still our preferred venue by a long way.... We'll have to see if the folks are willing to put a second mortgage on the house! ;)

wow you are lucky...we were 22 and 23 and paid for the lot ourselves....

Well my folks aren't too happy about it so don't think we'll be getting much off them... I've only got a part-time job ATM and Carine hasn't got one to speak of and mum's been saying get a job before even thinking about the wedding... Like we're not trying... 30+ jobs applied for since I started looking late last year, one interview and that's just me.

We were planning on paying for about half to three quaters ourselves anyway.

I think it's pretty common these days for people to pay for their own weddings.
Aaron and I will not be able to have financial assistance from our families because they just aren't those sort of people.

We are toying with the idea of having the reception at somewhere like Rydges Lakeside who can let us have the Lake Superior room, and just having the ceremony in the middle of the dancefloor.

Means we can all start to boogie on much sooner ;)

Whichever one it ends up being, it doesn't matter where it is, how much it costs, or even who paid, it's the people that make the day spesh :)

Shads: we can both learn all this wedding stuff together!

I think by the time I became a wedding planner specialist..i didn't need it anymore cause it was over.
