G'Day,
Can anybody tell me what the positive and negative wire colours are for the front speakers in a 96 Hardtop?
And getting the door trim off is just a couple of screws, nothing tricky, or difficult, if I'm remembering correctly.
Thanks
Gareth
usually the black one is the negative. easiest way is if you have a multimeter to measure betwwen the end of the wire and an earth point on the car. The short circuit will be ther reference line...
i did have mine off the other day, but was not really interested in the wiring...this time...
Good luck...
BTW reference in this case is ground or negative

Yeah, black is normally ground, but only when they use standard colours!! My back ones were multi-coloured, and green/black turned out to be positive! Thanks, I'll give that a try. I was just going to hook them up, and see if they worked...
yeah - generally the closer to black is usually ground. Black/white Trace is another common.
Anyhing with a couloured trace is normally not groud. I always use my multimeter (which is always in the car too - ain't that right Dan...). Saves you bowing something you didn't want to.

SO, the wire with the lowest resistance (ie short circuit) will the ground (negative) line, right?
the wiring diagram available for download somewhere says :
L Door : +ve = V/W -ve = L/O
R Door : +ve = Y/R -ve = W/R
the link is on the forum somewhere, i'll try and find the link ....
got it :
http://hrdwrbob.net/rupewrecht/wiring_all.zip
the file is abt 6mb , and the stereo is image 13.
U can thank rupewrecht for scanning and uploading those :D
