just wondering what the go is with my CD player..
is it normal to have a double DIN standard unit, ie the top half is the radio/tape deck and there is a separate cd unit..

is this normal?

and i guess it makes it a bit more difficult to replace the cd player with a normal one doesn't it - i have to find a plastic empty DIN thing..

Yep, the base model (1.8 ) got just the tape deck, while the standard V6 one (and optional on the 1.8 ) was the tape HU in the top Din and the CD in the bottom DIN

you can get single DIN trays for the Astina at Autobarn

OR you can move your heater controls down into the top DIN and stick some gauges in that space

yes i got the plastic tray from autobarn for abt $20. Fit right in.

The standard tape and the cd player are actually seperate units, connected via a cable. Not double-Din at all !

Speaking of standard CD players, mine's crapped out and doesn't spin CDs anymore! Has anyone replaced their head units and has the standard CD player still or is planning to do that?

Would love to get a whole new head unit but don't have the cash and radio is really getting to me.

I've still got both the tape player and the CD player under the house somewhere, if you're interested.

but it might be easier to get one off someone up your way, like Tony or Mik (as they're closer = no postage)

but my offers there :)
