Exhust Advice from youse gurus.

Hey peeps. H0w r we all? Just asking wanted to find out some exhust stuff... I'm hoping to get a new Cat back system installed into my V6 Hardtop soon. I was talking to my neighbour about it and he said he could give me his old muffler the end of it is a 6 inch hole (is this called the tip?) not too much sure about other details about it. but what i want to know is about the pipe coming from the cat. I was thinking 3 inches. any recomendations would be sweet. If i can't get this muffler thingy off my neighbour, are there any good sizes and brands i should get?

Basicly i wanna know what to tell the exhust man what i want with out sounding like too much of a dick :oops:

Is it possible to get my car to sound like those WRX's that have that loud thumping sound?

It's a freeflow exaust. It has a 2,5 inch inlet and a 4 inch tip.

From the header it all 60mm pipe. straight to the freeflow ehm... (demper in dutch).

It gives a great sound. From a mile away it sounds like a Honda CBR 1000 :o :shock:

yeah you can make your car sound like a WRX... Take one spark plug out of engine... you will less power though...

But why would you wanna do that... thats why wrx's sound so crap... cause they sound like someone forgot to put a spark plug in... and who wants their car to sound like...

The cannon mufflers are very drony. I suggest going for a ride in a car which has one before buying one.

Well, when(if) I get a new exhaust system (whether it be catback or full), I'm going to try and make it as quiet as possible. Better to stay out of the way of the cops, better to smoke wanky-arsed WRX drivers from the lights (well, OK, an exhaust system alone aint going to do that, but you get the idea.).

Kinda like a stealth audio install. You only know it's there when you crank it. I love stealth/sleepers. Keeps unwanted attention elsewhere...

Not to everybodies tastes though...

I'm not too worried about the muffler at the moment... more concerned about the size of the pipe from the Cat... is there too big???

But I don't mind them, i wouldn't mind a MY03 STI :) it's just that they're quite common now, and therefore can be a target for dislike... :roll:

WRX"S ARE TAXI'S, 4 of my mates own wrx's!!!!!!!

But i got to say that they are the best value for money!!!!

Quick for a standard car and they have a back seat that you can actually sit in not like the intergra type r !!!!!!!

Don't get me started on those **** box integra type r's , $42 000 dollar piece of ****, only thing good is that they have good handeling, they don't start to go till after 5500rpm!! and even then they don't go!!!!!!

I'm with you on S15's there lantis! would be my fave care atm. but i just saw Xmen 2 and i'd say the RX8 is coming into the competition... BUt i'm also a big fan of the S13...

I see what u mean about the WRX being common and being a target for dislike... i hate commodores with a passion... i don't find WRX as common as them... so i still like em... S15's are getter very popular.

Brad #2: to answer your size problem (*Brad #1 giggles like a lil schoolgi... boy :lol: *) 3" wayyyyyyyyyyy to big. Theres a previous topic not too old on this, but i cant be stuffed finding it. Go 2.25"or 2.5" - u can work out metric conversion yourself.

And then in regards to WRX: they may be common, but tell me a better value 2nd hand car than a MY97 for $19900 with 3 year warranty, nice 17's and kit, and average kms. And i dont really care what it looks like or what people think.... i'd love a rally weapon as a daily driver thanks!

Exhaust sound: depends on who you are. I got an exhaust because I (ME - not anyone else) wanted it, I love a nice sounding car, and I told them the sound i wanted and wasnt paying till i got it. They did it perfectly, and i love it. I cant hear it a mile down the road, but put the 'go' pedal down and it sounds sweet. Nothing better than a hard twisty drive with windows down pushing it to (near) the limit and bein able to enjoy the sound! Amen.

rexs are way to common for anyone 2 own, unless you are goin for a sti :) very nice car they r.... ive been a my03 sti 4 door, and they r damn fast we were pushing 200 by the end of the on ramp to the high way :) :) :P :D but if i was goin to buy a sti it would only be a 2 door and they r rare...
