Its a Ka-Toonk sound yeah.
Just ask Mik and Theo about this lovely sound.
I used to have it to before my turbo conversion.
Cant get rid of it easy. The 94's dont seem to
have this problem as they have what looks to be
a resonator box in the induction piping.

Embarrasing as, isn't it. I laugh but feel sorry for you.

I had a feeling someone else on here had the problem.

So theoretically you could add a section of pipe (blocked off, going to nowhere - as per the BA V6) that would act as a resonator, and combat this?

Yeah as Mal said i have that noise on mine aswell  Its nothing to be worried about, its harmless :P
It actually makes that noise with the standard airbox setup too,but you cant hear it as bad cause the airbox is all sealed up :D
Its something you'll have to just put up with dude

Cheers :D

Nah mine never made it either..

Probably cause mazda did cost cutting on the Astina from 1995/8

The earlier astina's dont do it :p :p

Well from looking at my engine and miks engine there is a few differences in the intake setup, miks has a little extra box of some sort underneath the throttle body, which mine doesnt
Thats could be the contributing factor to this sound :o Im over it now anyway,i was worried at first, but ive been told its harmless,so no yous crying over it,doesnt affect the way the car runs
The 96+ Astinas just had more class, and correct me if im wrong didnt have the ****ty green interior,go the black :P

HAHAHA ****ty green interior...

you got jipped... You got all the cut costs and smaller gearbox and driveshafts... you are missing half the lights in the interior! and the green in the interior rocks! A lot of ppl ask me if that is standard... thinking it is way cool! hey guess what theo! I can put stuff concealed in my front door pockets...! Can you? :p

Im with tony, no lights, missing door pockets.... Long live the first series BAs.

Although i do like the black interior, I still dont mind the green.

Thats right we dont need to paint parts of our interior red to spice up our interiors... I actually paint my black parts in my car cause they were so standard! :p

I'm confused. :? My cars a 96 model V6 with green interior, door pockets and a straight pipe from the throttle body to the air box.

Is my car a freak of nature?? :P

:D
Thx guys , Im gonna try fiddling a bit and see if I can add a resonator to the intake , see if it makes a difference.

Any ideas on the best way to go about this
